Why didn't Mego release more Spidey bad guys?

I've just bought my final Marvel Mego Superhero (Lizard), and can't help finding it so frustrating not to have more Spidey foes.
    Where's Doc Oc??!!

Batman got most of his rogues gallery, and with Retro Mattel only doing DC, the future's not bright...

If you visit the custom forum, there are some AMAZING Spidey rogues like Electro, Vulture, and Scorpion. You have to wonder why Mego didn't introduce more characters. Perhaps the disappointing numbers from the 1975 group (Falcon, Lizard, Iron Man) made them reluctant. Maybe back then because it was children (and not collectors) who bought them and they wanted the heroes over the villains.

Anyway...I would love some Spidey rogues, too!

I always wondered how they would have pulled off Doc Ock and his arms. That sounds wrong, doesn't it?

Maybe thats why they didn't do Doc Ock. It may have been too costly per figure for Mego to produce the arms.

Maybe it would have been an inflatable, sausage-y looking thing.

really I'm happy we got lizard and Green Goblin ... the only two villians from marvel mego made are for spidy.

sure batman got joker, riddler, penguin and catwoman... but there was also robin and batgirl ... it was more in ratio with good vs. bad.

Obviously because Spidey was the best Mego seller for Marvel's line. The best sellers got the most attention.

Doom would have obvious if the FF came out a year earlier, perhaps..
              Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

Much as I love them I believe both were poor sellers so that would kill any additional Spidey villains being made.

That's true, most of that wave (except eventually the Hulk) didn't sell well at all. Spidey was lucky to get two villains. Hulk, Cap, the FF, etc. got none....

I'm happy I got 2. Of course, I've made or bought about 20-25 other villains as an adult. It's always been my major custom focus.

Here's hoping Mattel also get the Marvel licence, and start doing them right by then....

In the meanwhile, I must make a Doc Oc myself, no doubt about it!

Lizard and Green Goblin > Myxie

Where are Ironman's, Hulk's, Fantastic Four's, Aquaman's, Wonder Woman's, etc, etc etc villains? That is the real question. Thank goodness for Retro Action. Now let's see some Marvel Retro Action.

You would think that Captain America - an early MEGO that was a very
popular character - would have at least gotten his major foe made.

Can you imagine the meeting between Marty, Neil, and the designers
looking over the artwork Marvel sent them?

Marty: "Captain America is selling good. Why don't we make a
Super Foe for him? Who's his biggest bad guy?"

Neil: "That would be the Red Skull. Joey - did Marvel send us
                            some art for him?"

Joey: "Yeah Neil - it's right here. Basic green jumpsuit, black
boots, and a big swastika on the chest."

Marty: "A what? Are you kidding me? There is no way this
company is making a freakin' nazi! Anybody else?"

Joey: "Well, there's Batroc the Leaper. He's french and fights
                            with his feet."

Marty: "Oh well - I guess Cap will have to fight Dracula and
                            the Mummy."
