I remember riding my bike miles to the toystore several times to check if I could find a bearded AJ after my friend's dad bought him one. I never did find one, and had to settle for a clean shaven one after I saved my allowance.

One of my earliest memories was opening a solid box Superman and thinking I had died and gone to Heaven. By the time I saved for one, they were in window boxes, but I was okay with that as I could look at him when he slept in his box at night.

My family spent the summer of 1975 at my grandparents house, before we moved to Antigua where we were going to be stationed for the next 3 years (Navy). My parents bought me a Mego Spider-Man to play with during those months, and we did EVERYTHING together. We climbed every tree, explored every bush, played on the tracks that ran next to my GP's house... but most of the time we were on the roof of the carport, watching the entire neighborhood for bad guys.

Oh, so many memories it's hard to nail down just one. I just absolutely loved Megos and got them for Xmas and birthdays from 1974 to 1978 or '79. Here's me after my first Mego Xmas:

Oh how I envy you. I had Batman, my brother had Robin. But neither of us had The Batmobile.

Being from that age bracket, I whole-heartedly agree. What an amazing time to grow-up during… Planet of the Apes, Star Trek, Superheroes, GI Joe, Fighting Furies… So many warm and fuzzy memories tied into all those toys… I do remember putting a "parachute" on Doc McCoy and tossing him from my grandmother's 2nd floor apartment balcony, running down to retrieve him and doing it all over again. Poor Doc McCoy took a beating that day…

I've posted this one before. This is me and my African foster sister Hawa, both age 7. I'm holding a Mego Beautiful Lainie, and Hawa is holding a Remco "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" Mimi doll. The dolls are wearing other clothes and my mom had just made those ponchos for them. We were dressed for school photo day.

I've posted this before, but here goes. My mom took my brother and me to an out of the way Uncle Bill's store. This was toward the end of the Mego era so we rarely saw any other than Batman, Robin, Supes, Hulk, amd Spiderman. In that store, they had praqctically evry WGSH, except for Green Goblin and Wonder Woman because I never saw them. We begged my mom for any and all figures and she let us pick one each. I struggled to pick just one and decided on Thor. I really wanted one of the Batman villains too, but tried to convince my brother to get one since he owned Batman and Robin. He didn't wat them, so he got Aquaman. We never made it back to that store, but both remember that trip vividly.

Here are a couple of my previously posted memories. (yeah I save them. I'm weird that way.)

                          1) My cousin Cliff and I both got a Mego Fonzie on the same summer day. We were showing them to our other cousin Donald, telling him how cool they were cuz Fonzie's thumbs were movable and could do the "Ayyy!" thing and how Fonzie was all cool and stuff...so what did Donald do? He took Cliff's Mego Fonzie and threw it on the roof...we couldn't get it down, nor did we even ask an adult for help in the matter...now Cliff was Fonzie-less...Why didn't we ask for help? I have no idea. Maybe we figured no adult would help us.

                          2) One Christmas, my cousin Cliff got a Mego Robin. I told my older brother, Les, that I was jealous. So what did my brother do? While Cliff was in the bathroom, he cut Robin's rubber bands and laid him ever so gently back in the same place that Cliff had left him. When Cliff came back and picked Robin up, he fell apart...I still chuckle when I think about it, but it really isn't funny. I'll do some time in Mego purgatory for laughing at that one I'm sure.
