Are you collecting strictly female characters, or? My collection is BLOATING since joining here, though I shamefully hoarde my Megos - but my wife might have a spare 12" Wonder Woman if you are interested?
(She has seen better days, but still displays well! ....the DOLL, not my WIFE...)
Hi Amy and welcome. Aside from the wonderful hero figures, Mego made many TV and film dolls. You might want to check out this (and all the other) gallery here at the Museum-
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
Hello Amydoll I'm Trappy and you can find just about anything mego or mego-like here. Doc Mego and Mattel just came out with an awesome wonder woman, you should check her out. Let me know if you need help with anything.
Mattell is currently selling a line called Retro Action DC superheroes. And, as trappy said, WW is going to be showing up in Toys'R'Us and various online outlets soon. Cheetah is also in that wave if you are familiar with the DC characters.
Isis can be a bit pricey. Not sure if you are collecting packaged examples or loose, but a loose Isis can get over $125 if she is clean and complete. Carded would be more than that and a boxed version is truly hard to find, so those are several hundred more.
Back to Mattell... you said you would want a Shazam to go with Isis. Although the original Mego version is not that hard to track down, Mattell will be selling a new Megolike Shaz in the spring of this year along with his adversary Black Adam. If you can find the Matty Shaz, he would cost you less than a Mego one.
have fun; enjoy your superdolls and keep digging in the galleries. You will be amazed at the amount of characters this company produced.
Thanks for the big warm welcome guys!! Hi RussG,I haven't seen any of the dinah-mite dolls...I have been collecting mainly the character/tv show dolls from all decades. I'm 26 but i think the old dolls are great...everything from the munsters to jem and the holograms. I think the reason i had never discovered "mego" superhero dolls before is that I never see them anywhere. I buy alot of my dolls at hobby shops, antique stores etc and i've never come across any although now that i think about it I think i saw a Hulk one not too long ago....
I started collecting after my grandfather gave me a set of munster dolls from the
60's...after that i was hooked on finding other cool dolls from days gone by and these mego dolls are perfect
Careful Amydoll...once you start down the dark path of Mego Collecting, and aquire all the Mego's you set out to collect...you may get bit by the "Customizing Bug".
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes!!! Your all so nice!!! That custom doll is beautiful ! I didn't realize there were different versions of supergirl...now i want the other one and i need ISIS....I don't want them in the package,I don't see too much point in that since i like to display what i have,I was looking at a glass case in IKEA that looks perfect for mego dolls but so far i just have the one supergirl, she is right out of the package condition tho
