    Help needed

I just got a Mego Shazam and Spock.

I am wondering about the hands and Joints.

How many different Body Types were there.

I know the Action Jacksons had the Metal Pins as Type 1 (got a couple of these)

Then the Plastic pins Type 2 (same as metal ones but Plastic) (got some of these too)

But Shazam and Spock have a different hand joint... like a ball joint.
But then I have seen a 4th kind.

What was the timeline on these versions as a friend has a Shazam with the Metal Pins from the AJ's, and others have the Plastic Pins.

He has a Mego Scotty with this same joints..

I need help... I know (they both have Mego on the back)

Well, first of all welcome aboard.
Secondly, check out the voluminous information contained in the Galleries.

    Mego Museum Instruction Sheet

That might answer a lot of your questions.

You might also try doing a search through old threads here. Chances are someone has brought this subject up numerous times.

Lastly....and probably the easiest way...post some pictures. That helps more than anything.

Just a guess...it sounds like there may have been some body-swapping on some of your figures at some point but without pics it's hard to know exactly what to tell you.

Oh, and repost that question with the pics in the Mego Buzz or Mego Fact section since they are Mego-related questions instead of general classic toy questions.

    Rich

and it looks like some already moved the topic from classic toys to mego buzz for you...so half your work is done. LOL
    Let's see some pics.

Sounds like you might be confusing the early AJ plastic pins (Type 0) which are pre type 1 with the later Type 2 plastic ball joints.

The type O was used on A.J. alone.
The type 1 was used for A.J. and all earlier Mego Superheroes, Apes, etc.
The type 2 was the most modern Mego body, the date on it's back says 1974.
        Hope this helps!

          That Pic might help.

I always thought the Metal Pins were the first ones.

My original AJ I got around 1974, is Metal Pins.

So the Plastic ones are first.

The Spock and Shazam have looks like Type 2, (will try getting a pic) Spock doesnt have Blue Bottom half... and Shazam... the suit is that tight I dont think I want to pull it off.

I have found AJ's on metal rivet T1 bodies and you will also find the first 4 WGSH (Bats, Supes, Aquaman, and Robin), on the T0 bodies. I believe Bats and Robin would be the RM/RC versions with solid boxes but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Of course with the number of times we've seen Mego play dolly dress up with whatever they had lying around, I'm rarely surprised with anything I see. The Franken-Aquaman is proof of that.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Your Shazam and Spock are Type 2 bodies with the plastic replacable pins from 1974 and on.
              Very cool!
