I never even heard of Heroes World. I wasn't an avid comic reader, and the only superhero toy ads I'd see were on TV. But it was an intereting article.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

There was a Heroes World outlet a few miles from my house growing up,
but surprisingly, I only have one memory of shopping there -

to buy a Star Wars Iron On t-shirt.

        If only...

I remember visiting an uncle in NJ and trying to find one of their stores in the mid 90s with no luck.

I think also Heroes World being on a smaller scale could not handle the volume. Also a slight add to to the story although I don't know the full details. The Voorhees NJ location was continued to exist seperatly as "The Hall of Heroes" for many years moving around the area and finally ending up at the Moorestown Mall.
That location I undertsand has recently closed and the owner has started a new store elsewhere in the region under another name. But HOH was a direct desendent of Heroes World. I'm glad I got to go there a few times. The part I'm unsure on is if the guy who owned HOH just managed that Heroes World or owned it as a franchised location.

The Superhero Catalog was the only place I ever saw Kid Flash in the 70's (and that was only as a illustration). That's true. In the stores I saw all of the other figures, but never him! I was so frustrated because I wanted him since they had never made the Flash. When my parents tried to order him later that year, they were sold out. So it wasn't until 1993 when I actually saw him for the very first time! It was at a convention called "Lex Trek" in Lexington, KY. At the time I was shocked at his reduced size. For whatever reason I never really made note of that when I saw the others on the shelves. I guess it didn't really dawn on me until I saw him loose and to scale against a regular Mego superhero. To be such a die-hard fan of the line, I was shocked to not realize that back then. But then, that was the 70's and not everything was accessible like it is today. I didn't land my first one (which is the one pictured on my other thread) until 2001. It was an ominous purchase too. It happen on Sept 10th 2001. I woke up on 09/11 thinking about Kid Flash. So he has a special place in my heart.
