    Shipping Costs

I have a number of WGSH figures from 1975 in boxes, which I am considering selling due to financial pressures. I would rather they went to a collector who would appreciate them. There were my own toys and have been reasonably well cared for.

The problem is....most Mego collectors who are likely to want to buy my stuff are located in the USA.....and I live in the UK. Our postage costs are higher than most, and there isn't much in the way of a reliable tracked service to the USA that doesn't cost the absolute earth.

Royal Mail do offer an overseas tracked service called "Airsure" which is basically the airmail cost plus a supplement, but I sent a package of collectable books to Switzerland by this method a few months ago. Although the buyer got the books ok, the parcel was never reliably tracked as it stopped after the package left the UK and the Royal Mail eventually confirmed the whereabouts of the package over four months later...you guessed it, they wrote to the buyer to ask if they had got it! So as you can imagine, the thought of sending Megos this way fills me with horror!

My preferred option would be to use DHL. But they're not cheap. My question is basically....have you bought from the UK before, what shipping method was used, and what is the absolute maximum you'd be prepared to pay to ensure you received your package safely?

    Thanks!!!

Just received a package from Chris aka libby1957 and it was sent tracked, I think it was about $18 US ... He may be able to add more info... shipping was quick as well... I would pay $20-40 for secure shipping, DHL is good too, Rudy in Italy used to ship that way/// Hope that helps! luey

There are several members here who live in the UK (I've from several of them on more than onbe occasion). Maybe they might suggest the best method to ship.
      WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.

Welcome Fallen121. I use international signed for. I think it is trackable all the way and shows online when delivered. Obviously depending on the weight of the parcel, this could cost anything from $20 to $40, the real cost will depend on insurance. I believe you can insure up to £500. I love WGSHs Who says they have to go Stateside

Thank you for all the lovely encouraging replies!

International Signed For sounds to be the best option although with so many collectors this side of the Atlantic maybe I don't need to!

I've been experimenting with placing the Mego figures inside their boxes then inside a bag which I've placed inside a dance shoe box (these are like regular shoe boxes but smaller and lighter). As you can imagine, I pack for a nuclear war and always assume that the packages will be used by postal employees as footballs, but I don't like going daft and adding weight unnecessarily. I oce sent a bathroom sink I sold on eBay by regular mail and it arrived in pristine condition - much to the apparent surprise of the buyer!

As well as the figures I have a batcycle and sidecar (blue unfortunately, not black, but have the box). Been searching all over the attic for my Jokermobile - can't find it anywhere. Have this horrible feeling that one of the many tradesmen that have been swarming over my attic over the past few years may have swiped it!

Will post pictures very soon. Will also respond to some of the lovely private messages I've received once I have something to show.

To answer some of the questions

All are window boxes, all boxes are complete apart from green arrow where one of the bottom flaps have become detached.

Figures are all wide boot, metal press stud.

Yes, Green Arrow has all his "bits and bobs" !!!

Once again, you are such a nice bunch I think I am going to stick around for a while. I may use some of the money I get to buy Benjamin Halcomb's book so I can find out more about the figures I never got to own!

I never had any problem with Royal Mail to date.
