    A tale of three Ralphs

Thanks to good our friends at Heroes West Coast, we have what is generally referred to as an embarrassment of riches. Not one but three different stage Ralph Hinkley action figures, two early prototypes and a finished, carded production figure.

I don't know about you but I'd have gone nuts if I saw this in a store as a kid....
Check it out at the Mego Museum Greatest American Hero Gallery and stay tuned next week for more Greatest American Prototypes.

Pretty cool he managed to get all 3.
I prefer the paint scheme on the first prototype tho

I think the first head would work better on the second one.

I too prefer the paint scheme on the first prototype. Cool stuff!

The first head is classic but the eyebrows would need to be darker. Proto 1 fer sure.

This is just too cool. Man, would I love to own one. This line seemed like such a win-win for Mego back then.

I'm probably weird, but the thing that resonates most with me is the cloth boots. As a customizer, I must have removable plastic boots. It makes total sense to me, however, that as Mego evolved they would have transitioned to all cloth/silkscreen boots due to cost concerns. I love these figures, but it seems unnatural that they don't have removable boots. It has nothing to do with the show and how William Katt actually looked in the costume, my eyes just expect hero boots on these guys.

Very cool! I am very tired, but is the third one pictured a different figure from the second one? They look like they are the same.
Common sense is not that common.

I like the first hair colour better too.

Does the first one even have painted hair ? ... or is that the same color the head is molded in ?

So has Ralph, got a rejigged Dracula cape? I have no connection to this show, but I am loving the history on this stuff. Its amazing that these things are still being discovered.
