    >We didn't care about head-sculpts

Even my 6 year old self hated the Gorn. He was my favourite character on the show, and the figure was WAY off. (Mostly too skinny.)

You guys have a lot of great picks. I'm not a fan of "The Thing" or "El Chose" (I have the foreign carded version).
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

We just wanted our fave guys. Admittedly, I didn't own any iconic characters back then, but I loved watching the commercials. And even the poorest kid on the block had a least one Mego (usually Spider-man or Batman), so they were fun and affordable. And as an adult, give me the cheesiness of Mego over "screen and comic accurate" action figures any day.
Hardy, you're dead-on on these comments.. Back in the day, we all were pretty 'starved' to have anything.. with the quality Mego put into nearly all the figures.

Jeez, I'm still amazed how much effort/tooling when into Robin's shoes.. They could have been a lot less accurate and it still would have been cool to play with.

BUT, that being said, there were were disappointments as well. For as good as Spidey came out, ol' Cap was/is still a disappointment. For just a bit more work (white sleeves, red hands or gloves, better eyes..), he could have been another winner. 'Course that didn't stop me from buying him, so Mego was still successful.
        Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

As a kid I was disappointed Spidey and Aquaman didn't have boots.

I didn't care they weren't suppose to ... All I cared about was my other heroes had them and I felt cheated they didn't

The Scotty sculpt I always really liked even though he has blue eyes but he is Scotty no matter what, and he was always picked first when we all would play with megos as a kid. I always thought Ponch and Jon's heads were too big as well as the 12 inch Black Hole figures. They could have made Uhura a little better IMO.

I know the 12" MEGO's get props for being "improved sculpts" but the 12" Spock from Star Trek does not look like Nimoy. It looks downright frightening-especially if it has gone grey. The 8" Spock is more friendly looking to me. You should compare them to the 12 Knickerboker sculpts which are softer in resemblance but more friendly looking. Decker is a bit off. It looks more like Dave Bowman from 2001.

The 12" Buck doesn't look like Gil Gerard to me either.

8" scotty might look more like Doohan if they had got the hairstyle correct.

Is their any chance Aquaman is just a tweaked Superman with blonde-painted hair? The always looked like brothers to me.

The first Comic Action Wonder Woman. No excuse for that.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
