Well the little aliens are called Lilliputians (ala Gulliver) in the commercial, so they are supposed to be small.

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

cool set. I had this as a kid but because of the carboard pieces it did not last long. The mountain and dragon head lasted the longest but the jaw eventually broke too. Wish I could afford a loose one though, it really is a cool display piece. I sold off the last parts I had, a few years back, the little guys and the glove
Around 1979 I saw the Gamma VI playset in a store for $2 and didn't buy it despite my brother's pleadings. In the 1990s (before ebay) I saw it selling for $1200 freaking dollars!
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.
Very cool! It's been a while since I've seen that set in person. I don't think the one that I saw was complete, but I do think the plant trap was working (it seems like there was a rubber band, but I'm not 100% sure - it's been a while).
Nice Blog. Thanks. Mission to Gamma is one of the few pieces that I had and played with and then never had a desire to keep. For some reason the little aliens freaked me out a bit as a kid. The man eating plant did use a rubber band. It looped over the hooks on the inside base of the leaves making a big circle and then by pushing the center up it "locked" the leaves out and made the center the trigger. When you pushed down on the center the rubber band pulled the leaves in to itself.
