I commend you for bringing some insight to the situation, though. I simply wanted to come to the source of fellow collectors for their honest input as to what they would want to see in this project if anything at all.
If you want honest info, the best way to get it is to be honest with us; ask, and then tell us why you're asking. Honesty begets honesty, and your clumsy data-mining attempts set off alarms all over the place. That's why you didn't get very many straight answers.

My spelling, grammar, and sculpting ability has found it's way into the fray, and I am a little offended.
You missed my point; your actions were suspicious from the start, and trying to defend yourself by bragging about your sculpting ability and "reputation" was just as ludicrous as my judging your sculpting ability by your spelling and grammar. You made assumptions to which I took offense, so I pretended to make some ludicrous assumptions of my own.

Oh, and for the record, although my sculpting ability is just as irrelevant to this discussion as yours, I'd be willing to bet that I've been sculpting longer than you have.

Many of you have the Greatest American Hero figure this uneducated, untalented sculptor contributed to and I know it has been well received.
I own one of your Greatest American Hero figures myself. It's a good sculpt. A fellow member sold it to me at a price I thought was reasonable. I wouldn't have paid more for it.

I am however, just a little sorry I brought this new concept up at all, as now, what was to be a labor of love, has been tainted with insults by one very jaded person.
Again you assume something that's completely wrong. This is not a new concept. It may not have been practical before now, but the idea has been around for years. We're hundreds of members with a lot of experience and imagination. We're jaded, maybe, but we had you pegged from the start.

I'll still persue this on a personal level, and I appreciate all your kindness and input on this, but I only do labors of love that bring joy. I expect bumps in the road, but not what I saw from ABMAC. Let's see how things proceed. The truly interested parties will know how to get in contact with me and I won't risk being targeted again with malice as a speculator. It's why I've been reluctant to join forums in the first place.
Stop with the "speculator" crap already. I accused you of enough without your adding to the list. If you're projecting your feelings of guilt onto me, you need to just stop it right now.

And with all due respect, protection of the board members is one thing, but prejudice against A boardmember while hiding behind the annonimity of a computer screen is another. I really doubt ABMAC would have treated me with such disrespect if he was standing in front of me discussing this in person. My colleagues and clients know the type of person I am, and I realise ABMAC doesn't have the benefit of their knowledge...and probably won't have the opportunity now.
Prejudice? Until you posted, I didn't know you existed. After you posted your initial query, I was able to judge you fairly accurately from the information I gleaned from your post. While it's true that I don't respect anyone overmuch until they prove themselves worthy, I don't disrespect anyone without good reason. You came here with a carpetbag full of promises, but no proof. Sorry, I can't respect that.

In the grand scheme of things, it just doesn't pay to dwell on insignificant junk like this really. It's just one part of forums that sucks. People should consider that the way they act means something to someone. I for one, hope I never become so jaded that I view everyone who opens an idea as a potential ner-do-well. I just don't have it in me.
This is actually my favourite part of being a member of this forum; we watch each others' backs, and we mock the promises that sound too good to be true. Prove me wrong, if you can. If you return with a suggested price that I consider to be "super-expensive," I will laugh at you and cast aspersions on your ancestors.

Well, I'd need to see a prototype first to be sure, but this does sound interesting. But like Ant, I'm a bit worried about the price. But for now, I keep an open mind

I like many others would be interested in such an item. If it is truly a labor of love then a disagreement with one person should not detour you from the project.

            scottstoybox,

            IMO, go for it .......
            Fulfill your heart's custom dream.
It's no crazier than a certain person I know's dream--- which was making Star Trek customs out of cardboard and selling them.
That guy was REALLY a nut

            Seriously
If you don't try, you'll never know what might have been.......

Forget all the negativity you've encountered here so far.

As a matter of fact ---- IGNORE IT.
Chances are if you ignore it, it will go away

            Good luck.

Scott, I apologize for taking this further than it should have gone. I hope that you can deliver exactly what you've promised. I'll wait and see what you come up with before I make any more comments, and I promise that they'll be fair and respectful. I have no doubt that the quality of your busts will be excellent. The price and exclusivity are none of my concern, so I shouldn't have said anything about them. I'm not your target market, so I'll just move along.

I emailed Scott privately, but I want to say the same thing publicly.

I am deeply troubled by the treatment you received at the Mego Museum and offer my apologies, though they come far too late.

I wish you all the best.

As a potential consumer of your product, I implore you to consider reducing the scale to something a little more managable, perhaps a 1/4 scale or maybe doing a separate smaller scale run in addition to the full size one.

If this item did become part of a series, I fear after the 2nd or 3rd Full size bust, collectors would be rapidly running out of display space for piececs of such size. Maybe even after the first.

Also, is the cost of the computer scanning going to impact the final price? If so I may suggest just doing a hand sculpt on Batman. The Mego Batman head is about as primitive a sculpt as you will find for any Mego figure. I fear computer scanning the Batman head would be like using a flame thrower to light a cigarette. If it was the Lizard or Joker or Mr. Fantastic, then I would insist on computer scanning.

Even if I don't pick one up, I wish you luck, it sounds great.

MegoGeek, Thanks for your input! As mentioned in an earlier post, it is my intention to do the first on in a few different scales in the prototype stage to see what would be a good mesh between aesthetics and displayability. I will probably do a full lifesized version, a little smaller than lifesize, and maybe a little smaller than that (around 1:3 scale.) Once we get to that point we can flesh the details out a little better.

As a part of my job, I can scan just about anything. I work for a company similar in function to Gentle Giant. Aside from the time, there is alot less cost in scanning than sculpting. I will still have a fair amount of sculpting to do once it is ''printed'' out in urethane foam, and then the molding is done off that master. I'm using the scanned method on this one as I can rotoprint it in several sizes to choose the most appropriate for collectors. To give you an idea of what to expect, here is a link to a recent enlargement we did of Jakk's Pacific's Rey Mysterio 13 inch rotomold wrestler.
