Yeah, I had seen the first two before, but not the last three, which are slightly newer. Great, fun shots though, that I thought some of the KISS fans and Megoheads might enjoy seeing, if they haven't already.
12", and nah, it isn't a prototype. These were taken long after the doll had been out, and after Peter left KISS.
More recent photo of Peter with his Mego. Polaroid taken in 2006. He is holding the doll I took to have him sign. I don't think I ever posted this here, and since it fits the theme of the thread...
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
While we're on the subject, something i've always wondered .... (bare in mind i'm not a KISS fan so I know little about their backstory)
Why do most people (KISS fans) hate Peter Criss and make fun of him ?
Peter Criss was a decent drummer that played with a more swing/big band (i.e. not rock-n-roll) style. As he got older (and took more drugs) his skills declined. The drummers that were in KISS after him are considered to be technically better with a more rock-n-roll style.
TOO COOL! I wonder if the other members have ever posed with their Mego counter parts? You would think Mego would have produced a promotional photo back then.

Most KISS fans I know like him.
Been a life-long Kiss fan and I agree, Eric Carr and Eric Singer blow him out of the water technically. But I learned to play drums alongside Peter and the album Alive 2, his influence is impossible to measure to this day for soooo many bands. As I recall, Paul and Gene hired him essentially because they liked how hard he hit the snare drum, he could sing (Gene still says he had the best voice of any of the band), he was a little shorter but not short, and he had the rock and roll look! That's it (they were trying to put a band together more like the Beatles in theory, as in all the guys kind of look-a-like and they all sing)! No try-out, nothing, just right place at the right time. Had he shown up for the spot he vacated in 1980 he wouldn't have stood a chance (Eric Carr was eventually hired).
Really great shots, I met him at the 1993 Kiss Convention in Toronto and unfortunately had him sign a poster as I didn't own the dolls then. I still remember the prices of stuff though, oh man, it was soooo cheap! The silver mylar Love Gun and Destroyer posters MINT ROLLED were $10 each, and guys had bins of them! Shortly thereafter a price guide came out (maybe the following year?), and Kiss stuff exploded. To go back in time...
