Any sort of 'price guide' here at all?

I have been checking around, and cannot seem to find one. Dont get me wrong here, for me personally this is purely about the nostalgia; In other words, I'd rather have a Joker over ANY of the Teen Titans, regardless of their 'market value'. On the back of that SAME hand though, I do not wish to be the guy that swaps a sealed BatCave playset for a loose Kirk just because I 'like Kirk better'. I hope I'm wording myself correctly here.

What I have been typically doing is mentioning the contents of my trades to more 'seasoned' members and getting their feedback, all has been working out well with that.

I suppose I'm just wondering if there is something more 'concise' out here to go by. I know the GIST of it, as in, say, Spock selling for many times less than say, Isis, but I'd like a more 'collected' set of cash values.

When dealing with some of my more 'interesting' items from the 60s and 70s, I just DONT want to be the jackass that trades his Stretch Monster for some magic beans!

Thanks everyone and take care -

Although I don't know of a price guide, there is a rarity list on the Mego Museum which would at least give you a very rough idea of relative value. A price guide is tough because value is determined by what people are willing to pay and it ranges all over the place.

For example, within the last two weeks on ebay, a loose Human Torch sold for over $60 shipped and another sold for around $30, but there was also a carded Torch that sold for as low as $38 shipped. So what's he really worth when you see a loose one sell for $60 and a carded one sell for $38???

I totally understand your concern, especially since you're mostly trading rather than buying. I've been collecting toys for years and I still make bad trades sometimes because it's difficult to know even a rough value for everything out there. Fortunately, most of the people around here aren't out to screw anyone over and I think that many people try especially hard to be fair in their trades with the new guys.
Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.

You can always make a 'price check' post in the mego fact section as well. (or in the modern or vintage section, if you think it is more appropriate for the toy)

The reason a price list has never been made is because by the time you would have made it prices would already be outdated. Prices fluctuate all the time. Repros, the economy, scarcity, ... all have an influence on the price and these are things you can't control

I had a fellow collector on here give me a nice little guide ... it wasn't a set price guide but more of a guide line ... I will see if I still have it saved ... if so I will post it. it's a few years old but the way he put it ... pretty much still fits todays market ... for the most part anyway.

You should post it if you have it Russ, that list with a little research should give a lot of members a helping hand.....

              Found it

              $30 to $50
              Hulk
              Spiderman

              Aquaman
              Tarzan

              Penguin
              joker
              Shazam

              $50 to $75
              Wonder Woman
              Riddler
              falcon

              Green Arrow
              Conan
              Thor

I wish I could remember who sent this to me so he could have credit. but it really helped me not to over spend on figures ... this is for figures without original emblems but with original parts ... maybe a few with repros I don't know but for the most part I got all my megos for around these prices and most lower ... it's a very basic guide. as you can see RC Bats and RM robin, teen titans and alter egos are not listed ... neither are variations such as css, or silkscreen gals.

As a rough guideline, that's actually pretty cool! I know that it could be argued that some of the prices are off, but for someone who's new to the figures, I think it certainly would be an asset just as a really rough guide.

Thanks for posting this, I think the list is very useful but isn't Myx in a category of his own

I was just going to say the same thing as Myx, sometimes Hulk, and especially Penguin can go for alot under $20 nowadays. Perhaps a new first category for $15-30?

That is true, but the same can be said for many of the figures on this list. You'll see a figure go for $10 one ebay and an hour later, another of the same figure will go for $40. I think as a rough guide, this is still helpful. If you wanted to go into more detail, you probably could have a list of cheaper figures that would be something like:

                      Hulk (if not mint)
                      Spiderman (if not mint)
                      Batman (suit and boots only)
                      Robin (top and shorts only)
                      Superman (no sticker or boots)
                      Penguin (if not mint)
                      etc...

yeah I know I got mxy, for like $15 and a penguin when I started out for $6.

what I found that worked good for me is to see how much under the listed prices I can get the figures for. Like my batgirl I got incomplete for $20 ... then got the cowl on another batgirl missing everything but the suit and cowl for $32, kept the cowl... resold the extra batgirl for $25 ... etc... the give take what I remake ... I ended up paying a total of $65 for my complete batgirl ... she now just has a repro emblem.

9.5in Mego Robin Doll by Burbank

Hi there am new to the forum and wanted to know the current market value of the rare British Mego 9.5in robin doll by Burbank in ex shop stock condition. Remember one selling years ago for a fair bit but was not shop stock.

                          Regards.

Baboo - I sure as hell cant help you with that figure's value, but welcome to the World's Greatest Website!

RussG - Yeah I understand what you mean man. Thats typically what I would do in person years ago, but the trouble is, I dont want to part with ANY of my Mego stuff!! Isnt that terrible?! Seriously man, I'll trade generously TOWARDS MORE Megos, but when it comes to me giving UP any, I'm horribly stingy....
(EX: Why would I need five of one shirt? Three of a certain character? Five Gold Crosses??, heh.)

                            Take care -
