I can't always afford to buy absolutely mint stuff, but when I come across it, especially unexpectedly, it just seems so satisfying.
Most of the stuff I have falls squarely into the C.7-8 category. Good stuff, but with some flaws here and there. Sometimes, however, I find some crisp, mint figures and its just awesome. Especially loose.
I just picked up two boxed West figures, Cochise and Sitting Bull. They looked pretty good in the pics and each included all their original accessories (a nice addition in and of itself), but we all know things usually look a little better in the pictures. I was very pleasantly surprised that the figures are dead mint. Colors are crisp and bright, fabrics look never bent. I'm not sure what it is about coming across loose, minty figures, but I think they great an even greater feeling of nostalgia. Their brand new-ness really transports me to those first few childhood days with a new toy.
(((redux because I had this same reaction and wrote about it around 3 years ago. I was just geeking out so much I had to post again)))
