The Price of MOC Mego in 1989

I found this recently and can't believe I kept it, in 1989 unannounced I started getting these photocopied sales lists from Texas. Most likely due to an ad I ran in toyshop or something like that.

Back in the day, this list was an incredible thing to recieve, not only was it a list of Mego figures for sale but it was really hard to find, never seen kind of stuff. I ordered off this guy on more than one occasion, very soft spoken on the phone and always delivered. He had dozens of Kresges, Comic Action Heroes, Bendies, carded heroes, this is just a piece of one of his sales lists that survived.


I obviously bought my Comic Action Heroes Fortress of Solitude on the 12th of November, I later sold it to Lou three years later.


I remember buying a Tarzan Kresge from this seller for about $100 earlier in the year.

The cool kicker to this story was about 4 years ago I bought a carded bendy robin of this seller, he's still around on Ebay and doing well.

The 8" loose prices have not changed that much in 17 years. Or at least as much of I would have thought. Very cool thing to find.

It's pretty cool though. A neat glimpse into the beginnings of Mego collecting.

I come by it naturally, in doing this search I discovered my mother (usually the enemy when it comes to pack rats) has the same issues. She saves everything, I found my childhood tub toys, soaps on a rope (unused) and even unused napkins from my fifth birthday party!

He was a bit expensive but this was in the day of, if you could find it, the person named their own price.

There were vague guidelines and I think he was essentially following them but I remember thinking that $25 for carded CAH was fine by me. That page is missing but I remember going to town with those.

ordering a McCoy Mego out of the back of a toy mag in the early 90s. I paid 45 USD for a figure with a filthy tunic and a cracked torso seam. I was pretty glad to get it 'cause the next mego I saw was 2 years later and way more money.

Is smaller card refering to a Kresge card ?

I started collecting Mego about 5 years later. $225 seems like a really good deal for Kresge Wonder Woman even for 1989. Ironic since most of the rest seem right on target for the time.
