My Mego Robin Dream

Well, I know a lot of folks have talked about having Mego dreams or collector's dreams and I have had a few, but not really very frequently, but the one I had last night was so vivid but so ordinary, I had to think for a while when I got up if it was a real fact or not. In the dream I received a package from a MM member.I had ordered a Robin for my kids to play with. When I opened it up I discovered a Mego Robin that had green feet the exact same color as his pixie shoes. I thought this has to be valuable so I went onto the board to ask what this was. The response that I got from everyone was that this was a later figure Robin and that Mego started to make the feet green so they could cut down on the costs of using so much material for the shoes. Except he had shoes, but they did not cut as high up on the ankle. That was the whole dream; nothing weird except for the "discovery".

I have had a few dreams where I find something really unusual--it's Mego, but something's odd and weird. I remember a vivid dream about finding odd Japanese Mego superheros in a Chinatown shop. Of course I scoop all of them up convinced I will be some sort of hero ($$) for finding these never before seen gems, but then I lose them before I wake up.

You should take a page from L. Frank Baum and quick-quick sketch them down in photoshop before you forget what they look like. That way someone has sculpting reference if they turn out to look awesome.

I once bought a complete beater robin just for his gloves ... I get him and pull off the gloves to find yellow hands and under his shoes his feet were green .. some one had used scarecrow parts and what I 'm guessing greengoblin parts to repair him ... he also had a green waist... wait only one foot was green LOL

Y'know, in many ways, I'm still surprised at how nice the original figures were. There could have been many shortcuts done back in '72 (like green feet..), but the tooling of those shoes were really beautiful.

I still wish Robin had a better collar (that came together) and head sculpt, but the outfit itself is still gorgeous.
