Ever bought an empty box to make a loose playset/vehicle MIB?

I know this isn't the easiest thing to do but have you ever been able to buy an empty box for a loose playset or vehicle you have and made it MIB? I've managed to do it 4 times. Bought an empty Hall of Justice box, an empty Mobile Bat-Lab box, an empty Batcycle box and believe it or not an empty Waltons' Farmhouse box.

I need to find a POTA Fortress box (#1 want) and a Green Arrowcar box and I'd be all set.

    How about you all?

empty Walton's box is outstanding. Talk about one of a kind.
    crazy.

I haven't done it with mego, but I have either upgraded or added a box to a few of my Kenner items of yore.

I'm missing something. MIB means mint in box, right? Doesn't that imply sealed and never opened?

I've done it once or twice, but to Sandman's point I usually wind up with PNIB (pretty nice in box). I'm currently on the hunt for a GI Joe Mummy's Tomb box.

Funny thing you should mention the Fortress Box...Came across an auction years ago on ebay that didn't mention Mego...just planet of the apes and Wizard of Oz...Bought both for $35. Yeah, I look for empty boxes or auctions with less than complete playsets with the boxes. Found a few here and there. Good Luck with the search Scott.

I've done with the Batlab as well
And I sorta did it with the Wayne Foundation: I bought a boxed WF missing about half the parts, but I've pieced it together and I've even replaced broken parts that were there with minty ones. Still not quite happy tho, still gotta replace two back panels

Aww - I just gave a Pota Fortress box away to a good home on my last sale round. Since I'm not a MIB or "PNIB" collector as it were, boxes represent pack-in gift certificates for more free toys.

i don't happen upon them very often but i have done it a couple of times. I went to a mega show in NJ many moons ago where a guy was selling empty wgsh boxes $10 a pop, they're all still in my collection.

I got a super-minty 12" Movie Superman with a crappy, beat-up box, and then later found a minty, empty box to go with him. I later sold the crappy box!

I was happy to find a nice condition empty Aquaman box on ebay as a BIN last year for my Aquaman. What I paid for both together was far less than what a boxed Aquaman would otherwise have cost me.

Actually, if I see the term "MIB" that tells me that the toy is "mint" in the box (meaning most likely opened, but still has it's box)

MISB is what I refer to as a "Mint in sealed box" ....meaning still sealed...never removed.

If we're including figures then I've done it even more: with Robin, Joker and Riddler
