    Restringing a T2 Body

Hey all, I need to restring a T2 body. I found the T1 instructions here. Is restringing a T2 any different? Where do you get the elastic to do so? Craft stores maybe...

In the custom section there is a T2 repair, it is not as easy as T1 restringing.

I think Dr. Mego sells rubber bands for T2 bodies.

If you want to string the T2 as it was built, you need to get some small rubber grommets from your local hardware store. They work well as replacements for the original rubber bands. You could also probably pretie lengths of sewing type elastic and stretch them in the place of the rubber bands.

Or you could skip the metal bits on the t2 and string them up like a t1. To do this you have to either run the sewing elastic through the plastic attachment pin at the hip, or pinch the 'c' shaped bit of metal down a bit there so that you don't keep dropping the legs out as you pull the tension in. I have strung many a DM body and T2 using sewing elastic and removing the metal parts at the arm/shoulder joint. You can string them t1 style with one loop, or use two loops (from shoulder to hip X2) the way that t2s are typically strung. Both systems work just fine.

      Hope that helps

Yes, that helps a lot. Thanks to both of you

Wow, I have been a T1 person for most of my Mego collecting days. I have been growing to appreciate T2 quite a bit lately, especially since I started my quest to get a set of T2 monsters (3 down - 1 to go!). Most of my collection is carded or boxed so I do not have a lot of loose figures and I never realized how differently they were strung. Very interesting.

Speaking for myself, I could never get a T-2 body strung T-1 style tight enough.

They end up almost as bad as Mattel Retros.

For me it must be strung T-2 style ... That's what inspired me to make the instructional page --- to let everone know they can do it too.

Where did you get the elastic bands to do so? And thanks for the instructional page. Good stuff

Just find a Museum guy with big parts lots and buy them.
                Most people have many spares.
Put up an add in marketplace.

One bit of advice, always buy 1 more than you need (incase one is too stretched or it breaks during installation)

You should be able to find 3 used ones for a buck + a stamp.

I was thinking that myself. Thanks again

Just a note to Firefox users who can't see the tutorial:

I couldn't get the tutorial to show up until I loaded it in a different browser.
