Broken leg!

My son broke his 12" Superman's leg just below the knee. I need some of your expertise sharing the best ways to repair it. Do you know if there is a glue that works better than others? Should I use a soldering iron and melt the break to repair?

What is the best way to repair a clean break like this?

There are many ways to repair, but none that I know of that will be able to stand up to moderate to heavy play. Most repairs work well for display pieces.

If it's for play... it's actually easier to check ebay out and look for any 12 inch mego doll (Superman's are plentiful) that are in need of repair... and look for one that doesn't need to have that particular leg repaired, and just replace the whole section.

How do you take the hands off of a mego 12 inch? I see the pin for the wrist-push that out, then what? How to I get the round thing out of the forearm?

I would take my chances finding a cheap one on-line that neds little to no repair and just put your sons suit on him and call it a day. 12 inch Supermans are quite easy to find , and if your boy is likely to play with him , noe advice about glue and what not will help you here. Your best bet is to replace the fig. Sorry

i'd buy another mego 12 inch body. repairs dont really work for play purposes.

If you want a quick fix so your son can continue playing, I would recommend electrical tape. Yeah, sounds tacky but it's darn effective. Just wrap it a few times below and around the break and then go over the top of the joint and wrap it a few times there. This should permit the figure to have free mobility to pose and continue saving the universe.

If you want a quick fix so your son can continue playing, I would recommend electrical tape...

Gaff Tape leaves you with far less sticky residue.

I think he's saying the lower leg broke in two below the knee pin.

Thanks everyone for your insight. I've taken a leg from Spiderman and replaced the whole thing. Now I am in the market for a cheap Spiderman to rebuild him.

Yes it was below the knee, but right below at the weakest point. Not much fixing you can do at that point.

You can insert a metal pin and secure it with resin filler at both top and bottom, fill the crack with milliput and sand it smooth. This is the equivalent of putting the sunday paper in a mylar bag though...
