Ape tights elastic original broken or replace new?

    Hi folks,
Kind of running a little poll here.
Many of us have these tights with broken elastic. Its sad. But time takes its toll here too.

If you had a choice of getting new functional elastic in a pair of tights, would you?
The only thing that would remain "original" would be the material itself.
On an otherwise nice pair of tights, would it be better?

    Thanks for reading, T

For me, I think it would depend on the rarity of the tights.

For example, a new waistband on Speedy leggings might be more desirable than on POTA tights, because the ape are relatively inexpensive to replace/up-grade.

That said, I'm always up for high-quality repairs, particularly towards customs.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Well took the plunge into doing a couple.
Here's a pic of unrestored, restored resting in natural state, then one put on.
      Turned out pretty well, IMO.

Most of mine are broken, but I don't know how to sew, so they stay broken. If I could sew, I'd fix them.

What any of this has to do with the Pufnstuf costume, I don't know.

          You rule, T.

For the longest time I was leary of tinkering with elastic.
I have more experience with it now.
Urkos pants had to have seam work too, so I took those right down and opened them up.
Doing these wasn't as bad as I thought!
Maybe a service to offer in the future?
