The Mego Star Trek Alarm Clock

Todays Update: The Star Trek Alarm Clock.

The Star Trek Alarm Clock would have been one of many new items from Mego in 1977. It's a surprise this wasn't made as it's clearly a (ahem) logical item that kids would have wanted. Heck, my day would be brighter now with this thing!

Hmmm, only real Trekkies would recognize this as a Trek alarm clock. I'm guessing that's why this was never produced?

Boy, Mego was trying to put all of their eggs in the Star Trek basket that year, no?

That is definitely different alright. A true Trekkie would love to have one of those.

I agree with Anthony. It seems like Mego saturated the shelves with Trek merchandise. This though looks like it would have been one of their better ideas. Alarm clocks with a theme were awfully big in the 70's.

If it had the Shat's voice it would have been golden:

"Captain's Log: Stardate 6:55...on route to education colony...but we...have to stop...for food supplies first..."

Maybe if there was an Enterprise on one of the clock hands it would have been more Treky...

I dunno, if you compare this to the talking Batman alarm clock from Janex this seems a little uncreative to me? The analog "digital" clock is a nice try...but no.

I was thinking along the same lines. This really paled in comparison to a Janex clock. But if Janex had made a Star Trek clock, that would have been cool.

My dad had an alarm clock like this...you set the smallest of the 3 hands on the 2nd set of numbers for the alarm feature. This one looks like the alarm goes off at 3:00

Couldn't help but make the same comparison. When I saw the title of this thread, I thought now there's a Trek itme I would have dug as a kid. But I have to admit, that it looks rather lame. Definitely needs to be much more "Trek-ed" up.

Yeah, they could have made the second hand the Enterprise and made both the hour and minute hands planets, instead of what looks like just the hour hand.
