    Displaying Mego's

ok quick question..so i have lots of loose Mego's that i display..i have most ina glass sealed display...and some just on regular open shelves..I DO NOT smoke in my house, and my house is always with air conditioning or minimal heat, and also NO direct sunlight on them...I would like to know, what happens to Mego's that are not sealed up, or packaged, aside from getting some dust..Will they fade, breakdown etc etc etc....any help is appreciated..thanks

I dont know about discoloring etc but I think your biggest fear would be someone playing with or touching a loose figure and breaking it or an accessory

Except for gathering dust they should be OK

Most of the types of degradation that can occur with loose figures protected from sunlight can also happen with packaged figures. Neither cards nor boxes are hermetically sealed. Any lingering chemical interactions could occur in either situation.

Some of my Megos have been on display on shelves for over 10 years (the room only has one window and it always has a thick blind down, so not much light is in there). The only problem I've had with my loose figures has been dust.

dust is always an issue. i just set up my GI Joes on open shelves and keep looking at it was dawning horror as the dust starts to fall. have been trying to come up with some way to put a plexi glass "shield" over the whole thing. but that might get too cumbersome as then I can't play with them either..LOL

I kept all of mine behind plexiglass on built into the wall shelves on teh 3rd floor.

I had some greying one summer that the Teen Titans were in too much heat. Whoops.

Now the WGSH stay in a curio on the 2nd floor. I also keep the 3rd floor cooler in the summer. I have also had 2 stickers fall off figures and become lost (myx's buckle and tin man's heart).

I have had to open the curio or plexiglass covers to put gloves back on or stand up figs from time to time.

once every few years everybody gets cleaned.

I keep mine tacked to the wall in my garage, in Castaway and Zolo World plastic clamshells. No direct sunlight, but it does get warm in the Summer and cool in the Winter. My concern is the heat, and maybe car exhaust fumes from pulling the car in and out. They have only been there for a few months now, but thinking of moving them somewhere inside if the wife will let me.
