Thor's helmet is a rigid plastic; which is easier to work with. BUT it's a hard plastic, so polystyrene glue (model glue) won't work. (Plus it melts the plastic.) Superglue is probably your best bet. If the figure is gonna see regular handling you might want to drill in a guide pin first. (The hard plastic'll crack if you're not careful though. If you do try this; go slow.) If it's going on display the glue will probably hold well enough. (Unless it falls....) Two-part epoxy is another good idea. (The liquid version; not epoxy tape.) It might not hold so well considering the minute amount you'd have to use.
Great topic !!!
I've always had trouble gluing broken Mego parts no matter what type of plastic was used.
Even Crazy Glue don't do the trick on many applications.
Try Michael's Crafts. The Krazy Glue people make some additional products called "Future Glue", which includes variants for different types of atypical plastics, and surfaces that have become 'oily'.
Walgreens' stores also have a section with glues & such (not the office supply type). Look for a super glue called "Plastic Surgery". I've had luck with that as well. (It heats up while binding, though. Just to warn you.)
I haven't had much luck with glue and plastic, and I am very reluctant to put any glue near any Mego bits for fear of instant of future melt. However, I have discovered by accident that ProCreate sculpting stuff sticks remarkably well to it.
