    The Trekulator Prototype

Todays Update: A Double Dose of Star Trek.

Today we've doubled up and revealed the only Star Trek items in the Lost Archive that made it to the marketplace, the Tricorder and this prototype of the Trekulator.
Considering next week is all about Star Trek, that should tell you something.

Stay Tuned Friday for another never before seen Mego Playset.

The Trekulator didn't change too much. The light up feature would've been cooler tho

I never saw either at retail, and they never made my picks list from the JCPenney catalog. In hindsight I bet I would have enjoyed them, but when it came time to make my Christmas selections they never made the cut. It was always figures, vehicles, or playsets.

I'd have never looked at it as a kid but I want one for my office desk now, I love the role play stuff as an adult.

I would love a Trekulator too. I keep a calculator on my desk now, b/c I'm so rotten at math. I really love the ad for this too. I always thought that the kids were using the Trekulator to get their homework done so they could watch Star Trek when they were done!

Is that a Klingon on the Tricorder? Cool! I guess someone saw fit to change the image to Spock.

The lights would have sold me as a kid. They look very Star Trek-y to me.

I think that's Spock on the Tricorder. I like how much more colorful this prototypye is.

A week of Trek!!!!! Wowzers...I need to sit down.....I am sitting...I need to stand up....Cant wait!!!!!!!!!

I like that the Trekulator sort of resembles the briefing room computer, and I would have wanted one as a kid. At the time, calculators were still rare, hi-tech stuff. I can remember the crowds a kid would attract at school when they showed up with a calculator or digital watch. Everybody had to play with it, and spell out BOOBIES and ShELL OIL, and whatever else they came up with.

The tricorder would have been cool too. I probably would have played with it more as a tricorder than a tape deck though, and probably broke it doing a patented Captain Kirk shoulder roll into the barn or something..
