I agree from a playability standpoint . . . but from a comic-accuracy standpoint, as I recall, the secret express elevator from the penthouse to the batcave ran right through the big tree sculpture in the middle of the building -- making the center placement more comic-accurate.

It just makes me laugh to think if they had made this and people would be posting on the marketplace "I really need some original palm fronds for my Wayne Foundation, can anyone help?"

Very cool. I like the prototype better than the real thing. I never knew the Foundation playset even existed as a kid, but if I had I know I would want the top floor to be some semblance of Bruces Penthouse. I know they probably dropped that idea because they didnt have Bruce and Dick figures to go with it anymore (although that would have been cool). The set, as it was, was just an elevated Batcave.

I agree, Scotts Bat playset is infinitely superior to both the production and pre-production Foundations!

Way better than the finl product,Bruce Wayne would've been proud to live in that place.

Other than it not having a base, I really like it. Very cool to see.

Thank your for being thoughtful enough to share this with us. What you have been posting is a piece of lost history.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

I've got to say that this is pretty cool! Like others here, I thought it was new artwork on a Barbie playset at first, but now I can see that it really is a one-off. I too never knew about the Wayne Foundation playset as a kid and probably wouldn't have really wanted it much anyway. I used to build my own out of boxes and those worked fine. As a kid, I would have rather had another couple of Megos than a playset. The Batmobile was really the only vehicle or playset that I really felt like I needed. However, I think I like many of the elements of this prototype better than the version that they produced.
Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.
