    The Wayne Foundation Prototype

Todays Update: The Prototype Mego Wayne Foundation.

We end our first week of the lost archive with a pretty big bang, this is an early prototype of the Mego Wayne Foundation (you can see the one lucky kids got in 1977 here) and as you can see it greatly differed from the one we collectors know well. Everything from the layout, to the construction to the artwork is different and hey, this one had plants!

Click on the photo and check how it originally was going to be for yourself and hey, next week we've got appearances by the Champ, two bimbos from Milwaukee and the eight wonder of the world, stay tuned Megoheads...

I think this one looks better than the final product, and a lot sturdier.
Would've loved to have seen that unused artwork of the different Batcostumes on the final WF as well

Looks like a Styrofoam and poster board mock-up to me. Not a bad idea for customizing.

Cool! The design of this is more accurate to the Wayne Foundation in the comics at the time...

Yeah, what Anthony said. Much more recognizable as the comics version!

This is the best one yet! Of course I'm a bit biased.

This a great glimpse at the process- You can really see how the idea grew from concept to fruition.

BTW, I never knew there was an actual Wayne Foundation. I thought it was just a name Mego used because it looked so little like Wayne Manor.

Slabs of styrofoam and hand-drawn art pasted onto crescent board! Wow - it's a wonder they managed to keep the thing from falling apart long enough to shoot a couple of photos. I'll bet that was a frustrating product shoot!

                          But and amazing photo indeed!

I was thinking the same thing Ray. it looks awful top heavy. the bottom cardboard is already bowing out.
