Removing sticker residue on window box cello?

Any suggestions? The boxes I have had those large bargain stickers on them, which were cleanly removed by the previous owner, but there's still some residue on the cello that obscures the figure's face. These are otherwise very nice boxes, so I don't want to try anything that would make them worse. I'll live with the residue if need be, but is it worth it to try some careful goo-gone type removal? Any experience?

Some people swear by Goo gone, but I've always used lighter fluid for stuff like that, works like a charm. Just carefully drip a few drops onto the residue, let it sit for a little bit, then wipe it with a paper towel that has some more fluid on it, then dry (or repeat if necessary). I've used it on both cardboard and cello and it's worked for almost every sticker or residue problem I've had.

Scott, I'm a Goo-Gone man myself. It works great on plastic including cello windows. It even works good on cardboard, but you have to make sure it soaks in good before you start ripping the tag off. If all you have is residue,it will come off real easy, let it soak about 30 seconds(don't be scared to use an ample amount) then rub it away with a cloth. The best thing about Goo-Gone is it will not stain cardboard, it will disappear when it dries.

Goo Gone works the best and is safer I think.

It's like lighter fluid, but it comes in a dispenser with a scraper on the lid. If you are careful, you can even reuse the stickers when they dry. You can find it online or at most craft stores. I swear by the stuff, and recently had to buy two bottles when mine ran out. One for my Mego stuff, and one for the house, since my wife and I were using it on regular items.
