What was the last mego you saw/bought @ a store.

this may sound odd and depressing. but let me explain.
it had to be 1978-79 I was habitually walking over to the nearby shopping cntr to see Star Wars again! I was maybe 13-14. I was early so I headed to Woolworths to kill time. As someone else stated it was cool to see old toy stock on shelves years after its initial run. In the toy aisle. I found a POTA throne. no figures just the throne. By this time GI Joes had disappeared (I think the 9" super joe was out/ or failing) and Megos of anykind were long gone. I had never had any of the planet of the apes figures and all my Mego's were given away to a young cousin. (within summer to fall. he destroyed every toy I gave him.) as a child I never saw a press release about the fall of Mego. Back then nobody probably cared to report it as news. I just realized one day it was over. The POTA throne in my hand was reminder that all things end. Even the Mall I stood in was failing. the big name stores left and it lingered for a few decades until it was demolished last year. Man this was a long and somber post...

I remember my mother and I went to the Toys R Us in summer, 1978 and looked for a complete four 12" KISS MIB figures set. They are all sold out VERY quickly!!!! but there's only one left for sale is the "Paul Stanley"....... anyway I told my mother "okay I wanted that one, thank you......"

What a rush KISS fans bought all of 'em so quickly????

Paul was a real shelf warmer, but the rest sold fast. I remember when I first saw KISS figures in stores, they had a bunch of Pauls, one Peter and no Genes or Aces (I bought Peter). I personally never saw Gene or Ace for sale at retail, but I traded my Peter to my friend for Ace, and my parents, God bless them, found a Gene somewhere and gave him to me for Christmas. I bought a Paul a year later when, big surprise, I found him on clearance for half price (five bucks!)

Anyway, I've mentioned it in other threads, but the last Mego I bought at a retail store was a MOC Hulk at Child's World, around 1989 or 90 for $1.99. Around 1988 I found a Kirk and Spock at a mall toy store for around $7.99 each. After 1990 I only found Megos on the secondary market.

LOL! yeah, you're right about bunch of Pauls left over, twins?

I'm glad you had complete KISS figures and Megos in the past and in the late '80s and early '90s!

Last WGSH stuff I remember seeing in the store was Superman,Spiderman and Batman sometime around '79 or '80. Saw them over by some Battlestar Galactica figures. Last of anything Mego I saw in a store was the Eagle Force stuff in the early 90s.

I remember very well around 1980, the toy shop down the road had a few Mego figures left and I got the standard Spider-Man.

Before that, I remember the big toy shop in the main shopping centre having all the Star Trek figures, I vividly remember seeing the Cheron and thinking he was cool.

              Good times.

I saw a Mego Spidey at Children's Palace in Lexington, KY in 1986. For some stupid reason I didn't buy it, since I still had a decent Spidey. Instead I bought Bravestarr. What was I thinking!!!

This was years after I had seen any in my town. I think the Mego stuff around here pretty much dried up once they went bankrupt.

                          Hmmmm....

Got a Batman and Robin at a Shopper's Drug Mart around '86. I remember 'cos I traded them for the first 15 issues of Grimjack.

nope believe it or not they still have them,Like I said before this store looks like if it's still in 1986,the warehouse on the top has thousands of vintage toys from the 70's-90's,the guy just knows a little about toys now so he's not as cheap but you could get some great deals on old store stock toys,he'll take you up there if you're a collector and wanna spend some money,if anyone's ever in Miami I'll give you the address,I use to buy all my toys there as a kid and one day I skipped school with some friends and went to buy some He-man and Star Wars my senior year and that's how I rediscovered them

Wow ,that is a good question. It put a smile on my face actually just thinking about it.For that I thank you.
Okay last Mego would have been for me,a lion rock knock off "World war II hero" from Woolworths/Woolcos in or around early eighties.I think about eighty three or four.
                              Again thanks for the memories.
