You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
Jacob's neck does seem out of whack. And his face seems significantly different from the prototype picture on the box. Locke is the better of these two figures.
It's a shame. It looks like the factory really dropped the ball on the plastic they used for the heads. They're almost translucent, which kills any sculpting detail that might have been there because you can't see the sculpting that creates the shadows, so there's not enough contrast in the head. Frankly, they look like really cheap knockoffs, and it's a darned shame because those prototypes (particularly the Flash Gordon ones) showed a TON of potential.
I guess it's too late to do anything now, but I don't see how you can release these. They will rot on the shelves and kill any chance at a second series. LOST was going to be a tough enough sell as is, but when the characters are unrecognizable, you can all but forget about it. My interest has dropped from 50% to 0 in an instant. I feel really bad for BBP!, but they should have caught this earlier.
i think they are alright, im not a fan of the show, but the heads so far from biffbangpow! seem very squishy or translucent or something i kind of like though...
Oh yeah, looks like the ball was definitely dropped Big fan of the show but even the prototypes were a hard sell for me...There's too many other cool figures coming out this year. I've never seen an episode of Venture Bros. for example but I was already more sold on getting those figures than the Lost ones.
Glad to see I'm not the only one that thinks Man in Black looks like Christian Slater The real actor (Titus Welliver) looks NOTHING like that.
And the card art is subpar IMO....all the great Lost bits of mythology out there and we get washed out imagery? Definitely looks like knockoffs....Is AHI back in business?
Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!
The plastic doesn't really bother me all that much, in fact I kinda like it.
But the long neck on Jacob is a mistake alright. And the card isn't all that spectacular either.

When I looked at these last night I was trying to think what they reminded me of and you hit the nail on the head. They do have an AHI look to them in comparison to some of the other retro figures that have hit the shelves. It would be a real disappointment if this issue wasn't addressed and future lines were affected. What the heck would the Lost line be like if Jack and Sawyer never hit the shelves?
I personally don't think Lost is a property that translates well to toys to start with. The characters also just aren't a good fit for retro and, honestly, I think figures from the show would be a tough sell under the best circumstances. I hate to say it, but I can't imagine these selling or appealing to the Lost fans.
