What was your MOST expensive mego purchase?

Depends what your goals are. If you want the rare ones, you have to grab them while you can. I took a big gamble giving up the carded Ironman the first time I had it. Ogem was really looking out for me on that one.

$1450 for the complete boxed Tex Willer set. Got it from Bonavita's collection. Next would be $1100 for a boxed Mighty Mightor and $1050 for the GAH boxed 3 3/4" set.
Gotta stop, starting to get depressed.

My biggest spend was around $500 for a loose RM Robin with an original mask.

He had the yellow/green bleeding shirt/ shorts. He was complete except for his belt and emblem. I picked up another one without the mask just for the original emblem and elastic belt (I think I paid about $25-$30 for it) and ended up selling the parts off like the gloves, shoes, costume and just about re-couped my entire money for it.

2nd biggest was biting the bullet and purchasing a MIB Supergirl for $450, the box is at least a C-9 and the Supergirl was never played with. Based on the way Mego prices are going these days, I'm not sure either one of them was a bad buy.

OK, none of the big spenders are coming forward, so I will chime in.

$11,000 for my carded Ironman, the first time I acquired it.

The second time I acquired it, I traded 5 green carded Palitoy WGSH, for which I paid approximately $9,500: Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Joker, Human Torch (open card).

Funny thing is I bought those when I had an unsecure low paying job and a mound of credit card debt. Now that I am doing 100 times better financially, I look back and think of how crazy that was and know, no matter how much I would like to own a complete carded wgsh set or some of the rarer pieces from other lines I would never spend that kind of money again. I can't explain why, don't understand it myself.

If by "expensive" you are talking about USD, I think it was 100 bucks for a stupid minty Conan from Luey. Worth it? Oh yeah.

If you calculate "expensive" in terms of endless time spent on emails, hassling with ebay and paypal, and using every legal means I could to get the seller to send me my damn Mego, that would be a 15$ BIN for a loose, minty fresh (with foil!) Uhura. It took about 3 months to get the thing and God knows by how much my life span was shortened due to the associated stress. Worth it? Probably not.

I forgot about that, he was the same seller that a bought a crappy Spock from, for a BIN of 5 bucks (I bought it for the accessories). It took a lot of threats for us to finally get those figures from that guy.

The most I've spent so far on a single figure is probably $50 for a Peace Belt Dinah Mite. I got it on eBay, from a seller who turned out to be a Museum member. She's nice and minty, one of the nicest figures in my Mego collection. I also got an Iron Man for the same price, as a Buy It Now. He's not perfect, but he is complete and totally orginal.
Of course, I don't buy carded figures, and I don't mind a flaw here, a repro belt there, so it keeps my Mego spending way under the average.
