Mego Iron Man - Lily Ledy Tusken Raider connection.

Guys. Check this out. Whilst scouring Ebay today I spotted these familiar boots.....

    How about that then?

Lili Ledy used those boots in a couple of different colors for the 12" line.

Did they? I've never seen it before and don't recall reading about it anywhere. Are they 'sized up' to fit a 12" figure or do the figures have small feet to fit an 8" sized boot?

They are the same size as mego boots. Not any mego colors tho. Black and brown. They also have a 'v' cut at the top that mego does not have. The LL figures have flexible legs and feet. Rubberish, sort of like vintage fashion dolls. They have an armature and bend at the knee, but the feet are just little rubber tabs at the end of the legs, really. It is a tight fit to get them in the boots. I don't like to remove them as it is easy to split the rubber at the end of the armature and tear a foot.

interesting to note that the referenced TR does not have the v cut on these boots.

Damn, that reminds me, I was supposed to get Bryan some nice side by side comparison pics of the Ledy Star Wars boots and Mego Iron Man boots a long time ago. Sorry about that B, do you still want them?

I don't recall this being discussed here before, but yes, the molds are very similar, it's just that the boots seem to be cut shorter at the top (kind of like how the Ledy hero boots are compared to the Mego ones).

I agree with rche, I'd be very hesitant to try and remove the boots from my Ledy SW figures. I'd be worried about the boot splitting or the foot breaking off. For the record, Luke and Tusken have dark brown boots, Darth and Han have black boots, all the same mold.

Hey rche, what's your opinion on the clothing on this one at auction? All original as claimed? I still need to get this guy for my set.

And crap, I still owe you some pics too. I'm really slipping!

                Yo, Chris!
No worries, bro. But yeah I do still want the pictures for the library of Ledy Wonders.
                :-)

counting the lines on each boot is the best way to go, no?

Nice. I've always loved the LL Tusken head.

Anyone know if one has been remolded and shrunk? I know there are more accurate/cleaner versions but this sculpt was great in a Tomland knock off way.

I'm going to have to revise this about the v cuts. Most TRs I have seen and the ones I have passed through my hands have had the cut top on the boots. I have also had black boots with the v cut in them for Han. Most of Vaders boots , and this is the figure I have seen the most often, have been flat on top. I have seen some v cuts on the Vader boots, but this is LL so it is not out of the question to see some oddities and inconsistencies across the line.

I am not a boxed collector of these, so I would have to go out on a limb and say that the TR and Han should have v cut boots in brown and black, respectively. And the Luke and Vader should have flat tops in brown and black. But, these things get jumbled about a lot in loose figures. I have also seen Luke with black boots, and have had a TR that had fairly obviously hand cut 'v's on the brown boots, tho those boots were certainly vintage.

A good question for Doc Mego is; does he get a bunch of orders for black or brown IM boots ever????

btw: cj - pm on the TR duds

And for Tothiro: this is one of my favorite sculpts of the Sandpeople head ever. I have considered many times popping the one I currently have off and casting it, but I don't want to pull any more of the silver paint off. One of these days, I will probably pick up another nekkid one and then clone the head from there. I'll let you know.

That was my thinking too, hence bringing it up. At least for the future it's been brought to everybodies attention, and let's face it this is the best place on the web for all this information overload.
