      1. On the first page, push START
      2. On the second page, push the plug hole (on your left), wait until all of the numbers say %100, insert tape and push the red button (right) so it says ON.
      3. Keep in mind if you're using the Tiger tapes (at the bottom of the selection), the buttons are different than the Mego version. They are 1,2,3,4 or Yes, No, True, False (and the first button is Question).

      Hope this helps.

Of course this is possible, but knowing where Dan got this makes me think other wise. Not so much because of the yellow label, but more because of the box. Wasn't it pretty common to mock up a box for show by simply gluing some produced photos to it? It looks to me like this box was just used help show the product either in-house or to potential buyers. Dan seems to be getting this stuff from the developmental stage of the product before they hit market.

That's neat. Must've taken a lot of time to transfer all those tapes over to a computer program.
I wonder how well the tapes hold up after 30 years though. I know regular audio 8-tracks are a crap shoot. Sometimes you get some good ones and a lot of times they are all warbly or snap when you play them.

My faves are the Science Fiction tapes. You can totally tell that this is a 70s kids toy by some of the things on those tapes.

            That online 2XL is awesome!

So glad there are people out there doing stuff like that.

I have the production sample Greatest American Hero card which was used to show potential buyers. It's the same thing, a photo spray mounted to some backer board, this was obviously the way things were mocked up before laser printers.

But I do recall a number of toys of the day having a cardboard box with single or double-color graphics printed on, then a glossy label-like addition covering one or two sides. My vintage Kenner Death Star is like that, iirc. I recall other larger, heavier toys boxed the same way. Perhaps Mego was experimenting with how that sort of package format suited the toy.

                Excellent find, Underdoggie!
