That seems to be one of the first signs of vinyl migration. I think it's the plastizer being "sweated" out. I usually find it on heads starting to grey, but if the head hasn't greyed yet, this is a sign that things may not be doing to well inside that vinyl head. I usually just wipe it off with soapy water (sometimes I see a bit of dye colour on the papertowel!). Of course, if the process has started, it can't really be stopped, so the head will probably get sweaty again over time.

Keeping the figures away from excessive heat, humidity and light (especially UV) could certainly help slow things down. Not just for these "problem figures", a cool, dark and dry environment is better for toys in general.

            Hmmmm....

I've had a lot of luck with that automotive interior vynil paint. Problem is; I haven't found a good caucasian tone. I've mixed one, but you've got to apply it really quick 'cos it hardens fast. You need to do a few coats on a head too. It clumps up and needs to be smoothed out. But I've used it on grey heads, and it does make them squiashy again. Well, squishier. They're not as flexible as they once were. For heads leeching plasticizer I wash 'em in dish soap and hot water and let them dry. Then I paint them. The paint soaks into the material, which I suspect is why it returns a lot of flexibility to them. It doesn't rub off either.

If you try this, use the paint outdoors. It's extremely hazardous until it dries. And I woudn't go chewing the heads afterwards, just in case.

              Maybe your Mego is nervous.

I can't help smiling...a sweaty action figure head just sounds so funny, though I know exactly what you mean...

Who knows what those Megos are doing when you leave the room...

He could be trying to tunnel out, hense the sweat.

Is any of the silverware missing?

Is this the same thing as when action figures get sticky? My Super Powers Hawk Man's wings were really sticky. Nothing visible. I washed them with soap and water and that seemed to work.
