    Defending A.J.

    My Wife: Who's this guy?
    me: Action Jackson.
my wife: He looks a little worried.
me: He's worried about how many butts he's gonna have to kick today.

She hasn't seen worried until she has seen Captain Action.

You gotta love Action Jackson. The man is a hero! How many pygmy gorillas do you see running around these days? ZERO! Who's responsible? Action Jackson! He lived in a Jungle Treehouse! He braved the Lost Continent! He's done things you and I can only dream of!

In my house, my son and I sing his theme on occasion. My son even asks to watch the old commercials and he's only 3. I need to get him his own AJ soon.

But you know why he's really worried? Because Brick Mantooth is coming to town!

"I prefer to remain an enigma."

He is, ever since he heard Brick Mantooth would be released as an 8" figure

Man, I remember when I was 5 and I saw those ads on TV, I was mesmorized. So what if I was a girl and a city kid, I had to have one! My mom wasn't quite sure about me having an action figure, so she would speak to my dad. His only stipulation, it had to be the black figure. No problem. We walked right over to Stationery's Toy store (2 blocks away) and got one. So now that I had him, what was I gonna do? He climbed couch cushion mountains, stalked the family dog, went to kindergarten (and made all the annoying little boys wanna be my friend!), watched out for monsters in my bed at night, and eventually hooked up w/ Big Jack and my Ernie finger puppet as the father and sons pursuit team using a Kleenex box as their ATV in search of adventure (well as much as you can find in the living room!).

Fast foward about 30 years later...there was a little boy in my class named Jackson. And I gave him the nickname, and the figure!

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

My one and only childhood pic with a Mego has me proudly holding a brand new Action Jackson on Christmas morning in '74. I have it my collector room to this day. Still have the figure too. It was the blonde/bearded version.

Just got a boxed one from Troy, and have to say NOTHIN beats the 70's quirkiness of the package dialouge of one Action Jackson!
and Captian Action is not worried, he is suffering from depression. in an interview he once revealed "Kids never want to play with the real me, not while they can dress me up like Captain America, The Green Hornet,Flash Gordon or Batman......yet everyone plays with DR Evil as is...Where's my Prozac???"
