    Sock! Bam! Splat!

This unassuming little bit of toy industry news from July 1973 would see the arrival of the Mego World's Greatest Superheroes . A toy line would dominate the action figure aisle for the remainder of the decade. Even back in 1973 there was no love for Aquaman, what's up with that?

Is it me...or does that Batman look like an early prototype?? Look at the ears on the cowl. It's a shame the pic isn't clearer. Check out the Cape on Bats too...Definitely has to be early protos. Supes has the Ginormous "S" on his chest..

It doesn't matter how many pictures I see of these, or how many I get...they still create a stir in my heart.

And yes Roberto, the ears on Batman do look very interesting.

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that those are prototypes or early production samples.

The image is from the 1973 Catalog, just poorer resolution, here it is:

I've seen a few RM Robins that retained the original Super Green, but I can't recall ever seeing a Super Green leggings Aquaman. He would've been spectacular.

Those poses look so different well-lit and in color.

We're they really only two Aquaman's to a case or was that just for photo ops?

No actually it was only two as I see under further review. I would think that would cause him to be much higher in value than Supes though you don't see much of a difference in value on the aftermarket for those ratio differences.

It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Ah...them were the days! Drooling over catalog ads, after school commercials, and the display in your local toy store window.
