    Is my Batman repro outfitted?

    Hi,

I'm still kinda new to Mego collecting. I had Batman, Robin, Superman, Spidey and the 12" Captain America and Hulk when I was a kid, but they've long since (30 years long) been donated or sold at garage sales. I recently started collecting them again, and I won this Batman off ebay for a little more than $9. When I opened the shipper, I noticed something was stuck in his boot. Lo and behold it was his mittens!!

So a few questions came to mind. How do I tell if the mittens and belt are repros? As far as I can tell from the photos I've seen of repro stuff, the boots here seem legit and the cape seems legit due to the amount of fraying on the edges.

Also, are there ways to "iron" or straighten the mittens and cape without damaging them? Is there a good method for cleaning the cape without damaging it or causing it to fade?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Repro belts have DM (Doc Mego) stamped in them.
But this will explain it better than I could

You have an all original Batman there, congrats! Put the mittens between folded wax paper and iron on lowest heat setting. Capes can be ironed too.

Wow! I can't believe I got that lucky! Thanks for the feedback (and the welcome)

The cape is a little dingy. Can it be washed (like with oxy clean or something)without fading to much? It seems like a different material than the rest of the suit. Does the cape need to be sandwiched between wax paper before ironing as well?

Now all I need is a repro logo to make him look complete!

That's a nice clean batman. Good score, and welcome aboard.

Yeah, he's real nice. When it comes to putting the gloves back on, take the sleeve and stretch it down over his thumb and tuck it into the gap between his fingers and thumb. That is how they did it in the factory and you'll find it much easier that way to put the gloves on without the sleeves riding up his arm all the time.
