Thanks doc; That would certainly explain the lack of lurch. Are the legs still done with elastic?

The Ghostbusters have a voice chip in the torso so the torso and pelvis
    are one piece, not two.

looking at the protos at SDCC, they don't seem to have the body giddy that the RA heroes do. Is the body significantly different for this line with the talk action and all that?

So according to the Mattel representative, the reason why Peter is wearing the movie uniform is because there was a single episode of the original Real Ghostbusters cartoon where he did in fact wear the movie costume.

It sounds like Mattel wanted the SDCC figure to look as much like the movie version as possible, but the actual figures will have the correct blue packs.

"We do have plans for a full line of cartoon color'd Retro Action GB in the fall at Toys R Us with all of the Ghostbusters represented. For our SDCC item we wanted to do something different so we went with a movie colored outfit and proton pack. You'll get blue packs with the retail line all on display at SDCC!"

Great news! Also, that's confirmation of them being sold at TRU.

I'll say this much, the price is right. I fully expected Peter to cost $25-30. Also, the fact that the sound mechanism is inside his chest gives me hope that the body has been retooled. The band that connects the chest to the pelvis probably won't fit so that should be redesigned. All good news as far as I'm concerned. The variant also sounds great, but those are very hard to come by.

A little more info from Matty: MattyCollector.com Online Store

    Retro-Action™ The Real Ghostbusters™ Peter Venkman™ ($20)

Our all-new line of Retro-Action™ The Real Ghostbusters™ figures arrives this fall, but you can get the first figure at SDCC! We'll have an exclusive variant version of Peter Venkman™ as a spooky spirit when his outfit was possessed in episode 11 "Citizen Ghost" (variant version has all green clear skin). Best of all, Peter Venkman™ talks! Just press the button on his chest to hear four lines of his dialog from the episode.
    Clear skin? Cool.

And since this figure is supposed to talk, I want input on the phrases it will say - - - and they better secure both Lorenzo Music and Dave Coulier to do alternative voicing on this figure. I haven't decided which voice actor I prefer, but I will let Mattel know soon enough.

So factoring in that and with all the tooling money they save on the figures, they can make an 8" scale Hearse!

    Right?

    Right?

    I can dream....

It's the Ghostbusters, and the prototype figure I saw looks exactly like the Ghostbusters. Who cares if there's 3 or 4 circles at the bottom?
Sure, they are exclusives, but they are toys, made to have the same charm as the original Megos, which weren't 100% accurate either
