I prefer THE VILLAGE more because A) It has to do with the PLANET film, where THE TREEHOUSE doesn't, B) I do like the illustration of the city on the outside (though Lady Liberty left a lot to be desired)...

THE TREEHOUSE is lacking in anything... In the end, it's just a roof on some logs... They should have at least had sidewalls on it, one permanent, the front one also permanent but with a door, and the third wall could have been able to be removed or put downward or something to allow access to the interior (and the fourth wall would have been the back wall.) And, I know they reused everything, but it would have made more sense if they did NOT have that stupid locker and radio in there... These sets were based on the films, and nowhere in the film do you see an ape radioing headquarters... (And the APES cartoon doesn't count. That came after the films, and after the playsets were released, so they don't tie in with RETURN...)

Although the Village is based on the original movie, it's still essentially just a box with some nice graphics on it. While that works fine for playsets like the Hall of Justice and the Enterprise bridge, it fails miserably to capture the otherworldly essence of the first Apes movie's unconventional architecture.

If the Fortress playset had included an elevated walkway that could be connected between two of those playsets, I'd have gotten several of them.

Actually, that's an idea I might try, since I have two Fortresses.

Point taken in the sense that it didn't actually have any of the shape to it that their buildings had... But, then again, the main part of the set is the lab, and the interior of the lab is not as neccessary to show as let's say an exterior of a building. Still, as I said, it tried to depict some of the film's "scenery", where the TREEHOUSE just looks like Lincoln Logs with a roof on it...

And more griping about the TREEHOUSE... What's up with that table? They should have created something a bit closer to THE FORTRESS table or something... Something that would look like it belongs in a treehouse...

I am thinking of something like that myself because I also have two of them, one "good one" which will not be used for that, and a "junker"... I was thinking of maybe adding a catwalk to the junker and creating something that is similar to the gorilla's garrison seen on the TV series
