Where will your vintage Mego collection be in 10 years?

10 years from now, assuming everything in your life stays the same, with no major income gain or loss and civilization is still intact. Will you still have a vintage Mego collection or will you have sold it off by then? If you still have it will it be bigger or smaller than it is now? Do you think quality vintage Megos will become more or less valuable/expensive as our generation moves into late middle age?

I'm personally not in a Mego buying period right now, but I haven't sold off the majority of my collection either. I like to think that later on down the line I will expand it again, finish off the carded collection I'd like to have.

That'll be easier if you all decide to sell yours off and interested buyers dry up, but I hope that doesn't actually happen.

Hmmm. Today I would say most of my collection will be gone ten years from now. There are days now where I "toy" with the idea of selling most of my collection.

I think 10 years from now, the values as a whole will come down for Megos. High grade and rare stuff may hold more of their value, but anything not under this umbrella will diminish in value.

I may be totally wrong, but I am certain of one thing. When I finally decide to sell my collection, it will be long after the values have crashed.

Hopefully in 10 years, my kids will be grown enough that I can display some of my stuff again. It is has been hard for them to know what can be played with and what needs to be left for daddy, so I've stored away pretty much anything that I want to keep.
          It's all good!

            Word.

In 10 years, I plan on having them displayed in my own house. That would be enough, I think, owning a home.

First things first though. Jobs. And getting a Mego collection together.

I think that prices will somewhat plateau as vintage figures become mostly too
expensive for the newcomer who doesn't have the strong memories of them
              as a kid.

Look at vintage GI Joe and Capt. Action - the rare pieces are very high priced
and even the ordinary items are sold much less often.

In ten years the rubber bands of vintage MEGOS will start drying out and snapping.

I would like to think I would still have them, as well as my other toys. I've spent the last 20 years collecting them, and they bring me a lot of joy.

Never thought about it. I have no clue. Probably will have churned them all into apes...and they will still probably be half naked and half done and in jumbled together in boxes. Everything action figure in my house is a WIP.

I'll probably still have the largest naked Mego collection.

I most definately will still have my vintage MEGO Collection. They mean so much to me that I could never get rid of them. I LOVE toys but MEGOs hold a very special place in my heart.

If you still have it will it be bigger or smaller than it is now?
Definately bigger. I'm constantly buying and upgrading my collection. Theres so many more that I want. The list is too long to list LOL.

Do you think quality vintage Megos will become more or less valuable/expensive as our generation moves into late middle age?
I believe that there will always be fluctuations in the market. Thats just the way life is. I doubt the MEGO market will ever crash, but if it does. I'll buy buy buy LOL.

Was thinking about it last night.. Mego's came just at the tail end of my childhood emotional attachment, so except for perhaps the RC Dynamic Duo (my first megos..), I probably hold on to them UNTIL some big 'holy grail' from the 60s came around (like the inflatable MMM Spiderman pillow..) or some other playset I've always wanted. I'd then use them as 'capital' to invest in that. I did the same with the minty MMM and C/A sets I've had in the past.

But, having said that, I've pretty much got everything I've ever wanted now, so I might just hang onto them for the next 20yrs.
                            Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

I have two daughters who have no interest in my Mego’s so with the basement slowly becoming a toy museum I hope to still have my collection on display and still growing!
