The knock-offs came first this time around - CTVT and Castaway. CTVT plays the part of AHI - great heads, clothes...crap bodies. Castaway plays LJN - small selection, but good quality all around. EMCE plays the part of Mego, and they're gaining ground fast. Mattel may ultimately take the mantle from EMCE, but it's too early to call.

Don't forget ZICA and Huckabone.......and Flattworld.....Flattworld could be Bogi, ZICA could be Aviva........

God I hope not. I've been doing the Space Academy line and not one except for Loki has come together. Just got one sealed and not one joint or hand was there. Every piece deteriorated. I only need one more figure not counting the variations on packaging, and two of the extra suits.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Deterioration aside, aren't those Avivas nice? I got a set and put the heads on Mego bodies, then took the outfits apart and resized them all.

Looking at it from a pricepoint perspective, CTVT may be as close as we get. I know I'd buy a Tomland-like line on blow-molded bodies with strange rotocast heads, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'd like to see a picture of the package variations you have.

I have 3 carded extra suits, and have been tempted to take them off the card just to try them on, but I paid way too much for them to do that, and plus they seem pretty rare to me. (As far as I know there were only 3 extra suits is that right?)

              Hmmmm....

Interesting question. I think the format will have to gain some ground first. Back in the day there were so many knock-offs 'cos the 8" format was THE format, and everybody felt they HAD to produce that style figure. At the moment it's still something of an oddity.

              BUT.... it COULD happen.

Weird. Now I'm excited for crappy figures. (Remember: I'm a HUGE Tomland fan.)

Should we keep our eyes open for a "Senor Mego" web-site?

In a way CTVT turned out to be a "knockoff" grade company, did they not?

                  Remember Hunter Dan ?

He always gets forgotten in the reMego history timeline

They still make Hunter Dan...and Hunter Ann, but your right, they do get overlooked a lot. They use a body ripped off of Hasbros 12" chunky body that the used on the star Wars and Action Man figure lines...does that make them Megoesque enough to be considered a reMego?

                      Really ?

For the last 7-ish years I always thought they were on a knock-off Mego 8" body.

                      Dang, what a rude awakening

                        Nope.
Only pic I have handy is of this guy, who is on a Hunter Dan body. If you look at the arms you can see the similarities to the Hasbro body. (Same height as Mego though.)
