What are the odds of getting boxed figures?

I'd like to jump back and forth between displaying loose and still showing off some cool packaging.
An old-fashioned window box would certainly do the trick.
You can always pop them back in the box, and I don't have the $$$ to buy two of each.
I'm not too fond of the resealable cards...

I think if they will be sold in big stores they will be carded for sure.

The only way they'd come boxed (maybe) if they were sold in little stores only, like Blockbuster etc.

How about a box held inside a plastic "tray" (so they can hang on pegs)?

The initial Twilight Zone figures will be packaged in clamshells on cards, like the Star Trek reproductions, according to my source at Bif Bang Pow!

I assume it's probably a shelf space thing and it's easier to peg everything to the wall......

I've talked to other collectors in the past (non Mego action figure collectors) and most say they can't stand boxes ... Their reasoning is cards display a figure much better than a box and most people don't care much for seeing artwork -- their big concern is seeing the figure itself for display and being able to easily hang it on the wall.

Most of these people were probably brought up on cards.

I personally like boxes better, but I think the majority of NEWER action figure collectors prefer cards and that's why the companies are happy to accommodate them for all figures.

Boxes are a security issue. If you want your fig's look to be killed with tie wraps...

Boxes for me and getting some cases for them, the way mattel have gone, fair enough to make them look more retro, or making people buy two, because u have to rip the thing open, the clam shells, good idea that u can reseal, but they dont quite stand up, and present themselves that well, when displaying. I was thinking of maybe getting some plate display stands and seeing how that works for the clamshells.

I've been thinking: taking into account that many EMCEs are heading our way, and I don't feel like hanging a row of "coffins" on a wall, I'll most likely display them loose, keeping maybe just one MOC to show the packaging.
I can put way more loose figures in my display cabinet, I don't have enough wall space to wallpaper with MOC figures, and these clamshell figures (like Trek) don't stay upright on a shelf.
So I'll probably just put the "action" in action figure, and set them free.
That Ming is just crying to spread his wings, for example...
