Besides the DC guys, of all the cool announcements I've seen...I am the most excited over Captian Pike and the Universal Monsters.

Wow, that is awesome news about the Uni Monsters. That Mummy head sculpt is simply fantastic. And that is John's (Type3Toys) Wolfman, right? He certainly captures the Lon Chaney likeness. Drac and Frankie are very nice as well. And that Trek lineup sounds awesome. The only thing missing is poor Harry Mudd. Great news all around.

what a great thing to wake up to, congrats to John on his terrific work on these.

All of the Diamond stuff falls into my "I have no choice, I must own these" category which sadly by my tally to date includes 20 or so figures.

Cool! Congrats to John. Even though I have a custom Wolfman from him, I will still need this new Wolfman along with all of these other great monsters.

I have like "kid on the honour roll" pride about that one right now.

Wow, I'm so jazzed about the Universal Monsters - because I was honestly always so disappointed by Mego's set (other than Frankenstein's Monster). That Dracula is on my 'wish come true' list. The Glenn Strange-style Monster is cool by me. The Karloff-looking Mummy and the Wolf-Man are great!

Pretty impressive how closely these resemble Universal's current 'official' brand designs and likenesses for these guys. That must have taken some very careful work on the part of the figures' designers and been under some very careful scrutiny by Universal.

And given the Sideshow Universal lines - which I'm also a fan of - the nice thing about these is that they say 'toy!' to me, which the Sideshow stuff does not. I just hope the price-point also reflects that!

                      Win!

I'm starting to realize this, too. I actually have mixed feelings- so much Mego-y goodness for which I'm psyched, but how much more money and space am I going to need.

I accepted I was going to buy the non-Mego produced Retro heroes and villians. That, of course, goes for the new Trek figures. And oh yeah, I gotta have those Venture Bros figures, too. Now these incredible Universal Monsters. And whose idea was it to make those Twighlight Zone figures so darn cool?!?!

Its really an embarrassment of riches for Mego fans!

They did say they'd allow pictures today (not sure the of logic, but who cares if we get pics). I can't go buy again, but maybe some others might.

This is getting downright insane! The monsters look great! My son will be after the Wolfman for sure.

Super Collector is the coolest thing to ever come out of this awesome place...and that's saying something!!

I'm loving the Universal Monsters! These might be my favorite announcement so far. Definitely planning on picking up one of each.

Couple of observations: First, the Mummy prototype's head is taken directly from the Aurora Mummy model kit. It's an exact replica. I'm guessing this was done because of time constraints? Or the sculpt isn't done yet? Would it be safe to assume that the final product will have an original sculpt?

Second, Frankenstein is probably my favorite monster, the prototype looks great! However, I find myself wishing they had put him in black clothes and black boots. Would be a bit less colorful, but a bit more in line with how he looks in the movies. But hey, I'll still buy one with a smile on my face!

The Wolf Man and Drac look great. 'Nuff said! I hope this line sells well enough to warrant a second wave. I'm dying to see a Mego-style Creature!!!!!

The Mummy is based on the one-eyed Kharis Mummy play by Tom Tyler and Lon Chaney Jr. Yes, well, nevermind. Too much nerd info, lol.

Anyhow, I think the outfits on them all look great. Especially the Mummy.

                                Now the sculpts.

The Wolfman is a great sculpt but it looks more Flattworld style than Mego. Dracula is a little too smooth on details right now and his expression is a little bland. Maybe an arched eyebrow would give him a little more pizzazz. Frank is too weathered for Karloff style and not weathered enough for Strange.

Don't get me wrong, they are great looking figures. But I think a tiny bit of fine tuning could really knock them out of the park.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
