There's no way to really sugar coat it, you went hysterical on us. There's no defending the rape comment. That's totally out of line. You've also been posting about your dislike for the figure in several unrelated threads.Originally posted by The BatFunny how when I voice my complaints...it's whining, or *****ing.
There's nothing wrong with criticising the figures. Love, loath, indifferent, whatever. But there's a difference between criticising or even hating a toy and just going plain bonkers.
There's lots of toys I don't like or I'm disappointed in. But it makes no sense to get that intensely upset about it. They're just toys, life goes on.Leave a comment:

I don't scream, I never scream. And you have every right to complain, but do you have to do it in every single thread in every forum. That gets olld real fast. Especially since this isn't the final version yet, it's merely a prototype. Not to mention the way you voiced your opinion. I think you will have noticed by now I wasn't the only one who took offense to that.Originally posted by The BatFunny how when I voice my complaints...it's whining, or *****ing.
But when you jump into a thread started by a Smallville Fan, and I defend the Guy and his thread(which asked the question...would Character should get a spin-off)even though you care nothing about & HATE the subject....you SCREAM , and holler that you have the RIGHT to voice your opinion.
Funny how it only works one way with you huh?
Besides, now that you've brought up that Smallville thread, wasn't it you that told me that if I had nothing positive to say I should just shut up.
Funny how it only works one way with you huh?

Different take on "RETRO ACTION"
I've always had a different take on the term "Retro Action" for this line. I've always intepreted it as "Retro" meaning the return of the 8", fully poseable action figure vs. "Retro" as in the design/look of the figures themselves.RETRO-Action guys. It's supposed to look RETRO. Batman's look in the 70s on most merchandise was still heavily influenced by the 60s show. Just look at Mego's offerings. If it looked like Jim Lee designed it, it would be wrong for what they are trying to accomplish. Neal Adams may have worked, but may have stuck out given the look of the other figures. The head looks a lot like Alex Toth's Super Friends design, which is wholly appropriate. As a fan of the history of Batman, I appreciate the old-school look. Chris
If you're talking about "Retro" as in Super Friends design for these heroes, I think that works for much younger kids. What age group are these figures being targeted for in terms of marketing? I think kids that 8 to 15 aren't really as familiar with the "Super Friends" designs as they are with such shows as "Batman TAS", "Superman TAS", "The Batman", "Justice League", "Justice League Unlimited", and "Batman Brave and the Bold". If you're aiming this line at the kids of today, then they are familiar with the look of the heroes from those shows and the comics of today. Tim Drake has been Robin for over 10 years now, and Robin has had pants that entire time (just an example). Dick Grayson has been Nightwing. Batman has had the more serious look. Sinestro has been in the black and yellow costume for over 3 years.
This line of DC superheroes has tons of potential. I don't mind them coming out aimed at the younger crowd in order for them to be successful, but I'd eventually like to see versions of the characters that fit in line with today's comics and shows. I don't see that as a problem if you're taking it from my perspective - "Retro" = the comeback of the 8" action figure.Leave a comment:

Now that makes sense! I can take a deep breath and relax. Loved the Idea and style of the Cowl, now I know that's a pre production head. Everything else is great!Batman will have a removeable cowl, but the sample from the factory
was all black, so in order to avoid confusion, they showed the head
and mask as one, and the Bruce Wayne sculpt.
All 4 of wave 2 will be at Toys R Us.
As for compliants - I would rather hear them now and show them
to Mattel, then wait until the line is cancelled, then discuss what
we didn't like.Leave a comment:

No one asked and no-one cares, but here's my 2 cents.
Black Manta - awesome - can't wait. - Possibly a gun accessory?
Two-face - a great new addition for the Villian line-up.
Aquaman - would love to see a better belt design, and keep working on that face sculpt. As someone else stated - It will make or break the figure - love the scales on the suit, and the hands with no gloves. He can use a trident accessory.
Batman - That prototype blows. I've seen a dozen 8" custom batman figures that surpass that thing, no problem.Leave a comment:

Gotta agree with BK on this. I like Batman, but I realize he will change quite a lot before he's officially released. If you're gonna market this wave get a final Batman done as soon as possible, so people will see the actual figure not this prototype. Cause like many others here they will probably not be impressedWhile I do Understand that this is a Proto-Type ... And Also Understand that the Actual figure will look Better, given what the finished Product of Wave 1 looked like as well as the Green Arrow ..., I can't help but think How the entire 1st wave of figures were shown in Toy Magazines, Websites, and completely marketed and Sold by what the Proto-Types looked Like. We never Scene Green Arrow, the Actual Product, until a week before He went on Sale ..., and No One really even Knew what the Wave 1 Truely looked like ( outside of a few) until that Dude showed up with them On Ebay.
If this is Truely the Look Of Batman ..., I suggest that an Actual Production Figure Be Shown as soon as Possible..., And do Not market this Figure for sale behind the Proto-Type.Leave a comment:

Nah, coloured hands can hold a Batarang, gloves can't
Besides, coloured hands can easily be swapped if they really bug you, or swap out the lower arm if you can't get the hands out of their socketsLeave a comment:

since these are hand painted prototypes, I'm pretty sure the production figures will look significantly different.Leave a comment:

I prefer the "before".
Oh yeah...by the way, I love the damn Batman prototype.Leave a comment:

OK, instead of complaining about the look, since it's probably pretty much a done deal, I decided to analyze the look and see if it could be made better without retooling. I think part of the problem is with the paint job. I think we all get a bit of a Superfriends vibe to the line, so that is what I used as a guide.

I adjusted the paint mask to look a bit more like that, and came up with this...

compared to the before picture, which looked like this...
Basically I raised the black on the cowl, widened it a bit, thinned out the eyebrows a tad, and narraowed and raised the blue on the nose. I'm sure it could be done better, but this is what I think could be done, before production, to help it out a bit.

Really pleased to see Aquaman & Manta!
Not so thrilled with the Batman cowl deco and surprised at Two-Face...
But, despite their short-comings, I enjoy this line. Still better than Famous Covers, and great custom fodder!Leave a comment:

While I agree with your Statement ... I can completely understand the over-all frustration of 1 of the Most Iconic Comicbook Characters like ever, of a Proto-Type from a Multi-Million Dollar Toy Company...., That seriously looks nothing short of a Half-Assed Kit-Bashed Custom. I expected a Little more Professionalism handled with the character, even more so Given the Look(s) of all the other Proto-Type's shown this weekend. And this is suppost to be the 1 from the Toy Company with the Most Money, from a Literal House Hold Name. None of the Blue Even Matches. I can't really say I like the Removable cowl look , it's really not needed...., I would have rather scene the Efforts involved in making that addressed Towards His Cape, Belt, Cuff's and making all the Blue the same Color.
While I do Understand that this is a Proto-Type ...
If this is Truely the Look Of Batman ..., I suggest that an Actual Production Figure Be Shown as soon as Possible..., And do Not market this Figure for sale behind the Proto-Type. Everything from BBP Blows this Absolutely away,.. on So Many Levels...., and a Re-issue Vintage Mego woulda Been Better. I expected this ..., given what it was,.. given the amount of cash the company has ...., to be well,.. the Very best of the Weekend.
But I am done "Complaining" and Offering my Views of Whatnot ..., I just thought I would try and Say something seemingly more so Appropriate on Dane's Behalf. He is a very cool dude, that I have a lot of Respect for..., he's Just a bit disapointed,.. and really isn't alone in His statement ..., I think he was just really at a true Loss for words.Last edited by BlackKnight; Feb 15, '10, 3:11 PM.Leave a comment:
