No doubt. A traditional Superman doesn't need any accessories. If Mattel had decided that every figure needed at least one accessory, I doubt it would have been a fake lead box. A phantom zone projector would be cool though:-)

I am with you on this one, Superman does not need any accessories. In addition I have to disagree with Lonnie a little bit (Sorry Lonnie), but my wife and I purposely buy the toys without accessories if at all possible; the reasoning is simple, it's just one more thing to get lost that will upset our kids later and we'll have to spend half-a-day looking for.

No little kid is going to see an awesome Superman figure in the toy aisle, run and excitedly take it off the peg, and then look at it a little bit and put it back saying, "I don't want this. He doesn't have an accessory!"

Here's some my thoughts on this:
1) He could sell very well as there is not much in the way of Superman figures out on the shelves. (I think this the most likely)
2) He could not sell well, because kids today are more familiar with Batman than Supes and may not want him.
3) I don't think he needs an accessory either, but if there was to be one, a pair of Kent glasses could have been cute.

Parents will buy a toy with accessories before a toy without. More for their money...and more toy for the kid. Think about it, from a child and parent points of view.

I have striped out about five production Green Arrows to date, either for my own
amusement or with friends, and I have not noticed the pilling you mention.

Can you post pictures of what happens?

I can try, I don't know if my camera can pick that up that close, I got to try and get some white gloves as I will not risk doing any more damage then I've have already caused.

It gets tiny little runs that ball up. Mine did it too, and I finally figured out it was my skin causing it. I get dry skin in the winter, and the extra bit of roughness on my hands kept catching on the fine weave of the fabric, almost like velcro.

Having accessories for all but one of the figures is just dumb in my opinion. I'm sorry you can't see any accessory worthy of coming with superman. I can think of lots and lots of them. So superman will never be safe from Lex with the green kryptonite. Sucks for him. He'll be dead before he reaches the stores. It makes no sense to a kid that his figure doesn't have a little toy for him to use when the other figures would have come with one. Parents will buy a toy with accessories before a toy without. More for their money...and more toy for the kid. Think about it, from a child and parent points of view.

I like the oven mitts, part of the Mego charm. On the Mattels, I just think the glove tops look too bulky.

Boring is better than nothing. No accessory sucks. He is the first to not have one. He should have come with something...even boring.

Lotta Megos didn't come with accessories, why do the Mattels have to come with accessories? They'll do it if it makes sense, but adding an accessory for the sake of it, is pointless and a waste of money
