I was surprised by the difference in size as well. I haven't had a Mego in a long time, and I imagined they were the same size. The Iron Man is about an inch taller, and quite a bit bulkier.

Welcome to the world of Megos, and our forum! Here's hoping you find more of your old friends.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic

Thanks everyone. I actually posted an introduction in the "Welcome to the Mego Museum Forums," thread, but I guess I'll copy it here. Gives my personal history with mego.
"Hello all. I have been reading and enjoying both the Mego Forum and Mego Museum blog for a few months now, and finally decided I need to join up.
My Mego history dates back to I guess 1974-75, when I got my first Batman and Robin. I had a number of B&Rs growing up, as they never seemed to last too long (plus, I think I played with some in the pool, and they pretty much fell apart) as well as at least one Batmobile. I would say from 5-10 years old I also had 8" Spideys, Hulks, Aquamans and Jokers. I had at least one each of 12" Spidey and Hulk. Once the Pocket Heroes rolled around I'm pretty sure I had Hulk, Spidey, Lex Luthor and possibly Batman and the Joker. I only remember having maybe three Micronauts; Time Traveller, Pharoah and maybe one other.
My Mego Holy Grail was (which you can probably gather from my username) Iron Man. I don't think our local toy stores ever had him in stock, but I remember seeing him in the Mego ads in my comic books. I also had a hankering for Green Goblin, Thing, Human Torch and Cornelius & Zaius from the POTA lines. Hope to get one or more of them here or via eBay. It does look like I've just acquired my first Mego figure in about 30 years, thanks to this forum.
I have very little knowledge of the figures, other than what I remember as a child, so I may be reading more than I post on the messageboard."Comment

I purchased an Iron Man from a member a couple days ago. He's on his way to me now. So I'm already getting my Grail, it's all down hill from here.
I'm also currently winning an auction on eBay for one, but I know my bid won't hold. If I do win it, I'll sell one of them off.Comment

It's cool how a lot of people have the same story. I was in the same boat - I had Megos when I was a kid but things happen - you lose them, break them (from just playing with them every day...all day), your dog attacks them, etc. I can say this is the best place to acquire them. Everyone that I've had dealings with here has been awesome. Before I joined I had 6 Megos - now I have 45. 95% of them acquired here. Every transaction I've had has been completely hassle free. It really makes the hobby more enjoyable when you don't have to worry about not getting what you paid for. Hopefully you find all the ones your looking for. Welcome!Comment

I much prefer buying off boards than messing with eBay. It is fun too see what's on there though.Comment

Spidey or Iron Man? Spidey is an awesome Mego, definitely my favorite as a kid (of the ones I owned). There's something to be said for the "simple" figures, like Spidey and Human Torch, who just have a suit and no accessories to keep track, or take care, of.
Having said that, I'm super excited to finally be getting an Iron Man. I don't think I ever even had the opportunity to hold one when I was a kid.Comment
