I had both as a kid and loved them greatly. If I had to pick, I honestly couldn't. AJ may be ugly, but he was an 8 inch man of action at my house.

I don't remember even seeing AJ in stores as a kid. Can't imagine I would have wanted one if I had. I think he is kind of bland looking in comparison to GI JOE. I do remember seeing the Super Joes as a kid in a Sears catalog and thinking they were really cool looking. But the first Joes I actually played with were the 3 3/4 inch ones. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

I'm a fan of both. As a kid, I had 2 AJs. He went w/ me everywhere when I first got him. But I always liked the GIJoe Adventure Team ads, (and yeah, I went around singing the AJ ads too!) As an adult, I have quite a large GIJoe collection, (not just guys, but accessories too!) I even had a GIJoe club w/ some of my kids a few years back. But I will always hold a special place in my heart for my for action figure and Mego."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

AJ was my first Mego and I loved that he had adventure clothes instead of just military stuff. My next door neighbour gave me a bunch of GI Joe stuff when he returned from living in the States and I had a lot of fun with that. AJ is much closer to my heart.Comment

I didn't know about Action Jackson until I started collecting Megos as an adult. I signed up for ebay to find the KISS Megos and in looking for them, realized that they were made by the same company that made my childhood superheroes and Star Trek figures...and that's when the "collect 'em all" bug bit me.Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.Comment

I first had G.I.Joe and then got some Mego superheroes. I don't remember AJ at all. I went from not being able to find any of the Marvel heroes to getting Bulletman and the Intruder. I never saw the Lizard, Green Goblin, Iron Man and Falcon or the Fantastic Four in the stores. So I stopped playing with them and got back into Joe. Then Star Wars came out and they sucked. I got a couple of Battlestar Galactica figures and that was the end of toys for me. So in 1978 I stopped playing with toys.(I also had a Gene Simmons head I stole from a figure at J.C.Penny's. Shame on me!)Last edited by LonnieFisher; Feb 1, '10, 12:09 PM.Comment
