any online resources for Green Arrow comics?

    Hiya folks,

Was wondering if anyone knew of any online sites to read comics. That is, has anyone scanned in and presented vintage (or modern) books in a pdf type format?

My son is really enjoying his Green Arrow, but he doesn't really have any background on the character. It is actually kind of fun to see him invent the story for GA. But it would also be fun to read some books with him that have the hero in them.

Unfortunately, I don't have a stack of silver age or 70s books lying around, so was wondering if there are any places one can read a few panels on the 'net.

Maybe I should just let him continue to make it up himself? It should get really interesting when I give him Sinestro.

Green Arrow never got his own comic until the late 80s, but he was in Green Lantern,
    Justice League, and Detective Comics.

The below links is to a website that shows just the comic covers but many
times that is the most entertaining part.

      Green Arrow comics

For most of the 70's, Green Arrow appeared regularly in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA, and in solo stories primarily in ACTION COMICS (#421-458, but not in every issue) and WORLD'S FINEST (from #244-282). He also famously co-starred with Green Lantern in GREEN LANTERN/GREEN ARROW #76-89 by Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams in the early 70's. I believe these have been collected in 2 trade paperbacks. GL/GA was cancelled in May of 1972, then revived in 1976 and ran another 33 issues as a team book (#90-122). Green Arrow had a 4-issue mini-series that ran from May-Aug of 1983, a 3-issue Prestige format mini-series ("The Long Bow Hunters") in 1987, then received his first ongoing title in Feb 1988.

I'm not aware of any websites that have any of these posted, but if you are interested mainly in "fun" stories without a lot of serious content (read: adult situations), most of those ACTION COMICS and WORLD'S FINEST issues should be available inexpensively in reading grade copies. You'd need to verify what issues of ACTION Green Arrow appeared in, though, as his series alternated with the Atom and The Human Target as well as others. mycomicshop.com is an excellent source for those, if you are interested in buying a few to sample.

        Thanks for the tips.

I am indeed interested in "fun" stories. My son really likes the good guy/bad guy game with the super heroes, but he doesn't really need to get into guts and gore quite yet. We have had some good times with some old silver age stuff. I think the farthest we pushed the adult envelope was with Spider Man meets Howard the Duck. But what 3yo wouldn't like a talking duck?

thanks again, those 70's books shouldn't be too hard to get in reading grade.

I would suggest avoiding the 80's series. They got rid of the trick arrows, made him older and most of them have a mature content warning on them. I would stick with the earlier stories with Speedy.

I think DC has reprinted some silver-age Green Arrow stories in B&W format as part of their Showcase series...

                            Inexpensive and fun!
