Wow - so mattycollector wasn't kidding yesterday when they said to grab them while they were still available. That seems like a good sign to sell out this quickly.

              Why?

I am curious - what would you do with that information? What would
              the number mean to you?

My partner Joe said in another thread that it was a respectable amount
of figures made based on what we know of production runs of similar
figures in larger and smaller formats.

I am genuinely interested to understand what impact the production
              run number has.

It has been my experience with such things that people want the number to be small so they know they own a rare item......"millions of people in the world who would own such an item with only 1...2...3 thousand made and I own one of them".... for instance. This may be the case with GA or it may be that people want to know if a large number was produced and sold out quickly so that these new figures will have a bright future in the cards.

Thanks for the explanation - I can't tell you the number because
production runs are closely guarded secrets in the toy business.

I would love it if Mattel did go back for a re-order, because I
believe that many more people who buy them, but it's not my
money on the line if Mattel gets stuck with a lot of unsolds.

In this particular case it's option #2. I don't think anyone here cares about owning a rare brand new toy, most were bought to be played with anyway, so rarity doesn't matter in this case.
