2010 The Year of the 8" return!

Well, we got Green Arrow in 2009. Lots and lots of good stuff coming out this year. Buck and Flash! DC! Now we just need Marvel to jump on the bandwagon! I can't wait for the new DC figures...

I wouldn't say they are returning. They have been around for a while. I think CTTV for all their failings got the ball rolling and other manufacturers thinking.

CTVT was dead years ago. They dropped the ball... Doc Mego got the manufacturers thinking. CTVT got the idea from him! So I still stand with the title statement.

Nope, don't agree with you at all. True, CTVT's bodies sucked, but they did put up the money to have new figures and rereleases mass produced. Other than the bodies most of their stuff rocked

other than the bodies and the heads that were too big and the rooted hair sucked and the accessories all had company id. on them, and the boots on the female space:1999 figures don't fit. It was the emce trek stuff that got the ball rolling, not ctvt. I talked to the guys at ctvt and they had no desire to even think about trek. I tried to tell them to go after it. They wanted nothing that needed to be licensed. Because sales on the other figures wasn't good enough. They told me Space:1999 did the best for them. They made really bad choices on some of their lines. Married with children? Not too many people asking for those. I say it's all due to Doc and his trek stuff.

Cast-A-Way had been doing 8" format way before 2010. I think they deserve some credit. True, the CTVT bodies were bad and they didn't get top notch properties but they got the ball rolling big time. I just think that saying the 8" format was brought back just recently is not true. I stand by my statement. I am pretty pumped the line is becomming more commonplace in the industry.

So, what other year saw so many companies come out with 8" figures? How many companies are bringing them out this year? This is the year of the return. Zica, Emce, Mattel, and biff-pow-bang(or whoever is bringing out Flash). So what other year has seen the return of the multi-company mass market 8" format return? None...Castaway has had figures coming out for years, but they are the only ones selling them and not other companies.

Actually when we approached Paramount for Star Trek, they were very angry
about the poor quality of CTV and did not want to repeat that. When Joe
mentioned Dr. Mego - the rep changed his mind. His friend had ordered
from me, and had praised me to his friend at Paramount.

Diamond was also leery of the perception of poor quality but they also
knew me by reputation. Mattel told me that my reputation and seeing
how well we did Khan, Sulu, etc. sealed my participation in the project.

I don't like to toot my own horn, but pretending that CTV started this
revival is just not true. If anything, they left a bad taste in everyone's
                      mouth.

I still have the bad taste from buying cases of stuff that sits in storage still breaking, untouched in unopened packages.
In my opinion CTVT almost KILLED the 8" format!

I also got a couple I love Lucy carded "prototypes".
