Mego items that should be re-made

Does anyone have any accesories that they would need remade? I for one have really appreciated the accessories that were / are offered by Dr. Mego, especially the pieces made in China. Do others here like his stuff?

In any case I wish there were other pieces offered:

    Mego Starfighter engines
    Batmobile 8" emblems
COA activator (they are all broken, make new ones please)
Pocket Super Heroes Batmobile replica Box
    LJN Emergency Fire helmets
"Your future is what you make of it, so make it a good one" (Doc. B BTTF pt. III)

Boy, if that the only items you still need reproduced, then I guess I have
done a good job supplying replacement parts.

As for having more items made in China - minimums there are 3,000+
depending on the item, in addition to tooling prices from $5,000-$10,000.

I have to really believe in the popularity of an item in order to put up
the money to have it made in China.

                    re-made

I don't want to offend anyone, but my choice for "re-made" Mego item would be ...

                    ... nothing!

Seriously, I understand a lot of you are fine with repro parts, but from my perspective, they make vintage Mego collecting a lot more difficult. I just starting collecting again last February, and have received supposedly complete/original WGSH figures with repro parts on a few occasions. In each instance the seller claimed everything was original, then gave the "I'm no expert" BS excuse. While it's certainly possible many sellers might be ignorant of the differences in repro vs vintage parts, I'm sure in many cases they bought repro parts directly from the source to increase the re-sale value of their items.
Again, not to offend anyone, but if you want to collect Mego, collect Mego. I don't understand the attraction of repro parts. There are enough vintage items available out there if you have the desire and $$ to hunt them down. If not, collect something else; now that Mattel is releasing new Mego-sized DC heroes, at least there is a modern alternative. What is the appeal of completing a vintage item with a repro part ? I can sorta understand the appeal if you're customizing figures, but to me a repro part cheapens a vintage item. I'd rather have an incomplete item with all-original parts myself.

And that is your choice. Repro exists and you cannot change reality.

I started making repros because an incomplete figure looks sad.
There is no evidence that repro make a figure worth more than
one that is incomplete, and I always discourage dealers from adding
repros because I know they will "forget" to mention them.

I tell dealers to give the buyer my website address so he can decide
if he wants to complete the figure with repros. Of course that guy
can then turn around the figure and "forget" to mention anything.

That why the Romans coin the phrase "Buyer beware"

I realize repro parts aren't going away. And I likewise understand that this is a touchy subject, and that many other collectors have strong opinions, either pro or con, on the subject of repro parts.
On the one hand, you have obviously filled an apparent need by providing inexpensive alternative parts to complete vintage figures, and I'm sure it is appreciated by many collectors. On the other hand, some might argue that you have profited from the sale of items intended as replacements for licensed character items (i.e. "firefighter's belt" which closely resembles Marvel's Iron Man belt) and have an inherent bias concerning the merits of repro parts.
It's all well and good to cite "caveat emptor" as a justification for the occasional fleecing of buyers by dishonest sellers, but if you remove yourself from the equation as the supplier of these items, you might feel differently. Or you might not. I'm not trying to offend or attack you, Doc, I merely intended to voice my opinion re: future Mego repro items. I realize the genie's out of the bottle, so there is no way repro parts are ever going away.
As far as your opinion that an "incomplete figure looks sad", it's my feeling that a figure completed with repro parts looks clinically depressed.

I totally hear what you are saying with the down side to repro-parts due to the jerks who offer items as original when they are not. It happens all the time with original prop collecting. Someone makes a Phaser II copy, replica, and then it is sold as an original sometime later...That's why I think it is great that Dr. Mego stamps his parts with the "DM" . Though the parts are fantastic I can tell immediately what is the repro part. I understand many outside of this forum, maybe would not be as savy.

I live on the west coast, and it is just impossible to locate Mego anything prior to ebay, not to mention finding any parts. Plus, since I collect Batmans I have so many that are always missing something , and the capes are always trashed and not worthy of display, so thank goodness Dr. Mego makes these pieces available.

I doubt if I will ever get a box for my Spidercar or Pocket Superheroes Batmobile...it is shocking to learn that there are only 3 examples of some items existing. For toys that seem to have been made in quantity that is really amazing...in a cool way.

I think repro items are for the dolls and not the owners. My dolls all want to be clothed and stylish. Lots of them are naked. Repro parts complete figures and that is good. If people weren't trying to make money off the figures it wouldn't be a big deal. If you buy for profit in the future then I guess they would be bad. All my figures with repro parts love them. So I'm happy with them. And want more!! Lots more...
