    Mego original packaging artwork

Does anyone here know where the original box art is for any of the Mego toys? I would hope it is safe in private collections by now, if not, maybe it was destroyed years ago...

    Box art

I believe most (if not all) of the art used for the WGSH figures was taken from existing comic book art, in some cases modified a bit. As far as I know, none of the figure box art was newly commissioned, though I'm pretty sure the box art on the vehicles was new, as well as the playsets (Wayne Foundation, for example). Oh, and I guess the Fist-Fighter box art was new as well.

I think he means the original mechanicals for the boxes. I'm betting it doesn't even exist anymore.

I was told that the art was done for WGSH by the comic book companies since they knew best how to draw their character, but Star Trek had a lot of custom art made by employees at Mego, and the Comic Action Heroes boxes, like the Fortress and Exploding Bridge had specific art. Even if these were done by DC, the original art should still be somewhere.

I was hoping to hear if any Mego collectors knew who had that sort of thing.

A lot of the art for the cards and boxes can be traced to these comics and other items, thanks to our own Chris Franklin, and were taken from them to use on the packages. I would guess that the original art used for those comices is still with DC.

In a recent auction of original art, I saw box art for some of the Aurora kits and Lone Ranger. Its out there, i think some old employee is sitting on a gold mine and doesn't know it.

Wow, I would love to get my hands on some of the original Aurora Prehistoric Scenes stuff
Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"

It's possible the originals still exist, but I'd think they'd have surfaced by now given all the interviews the Museum and Benjamin Holcomb did with employees.

I love the Mego art section. I look through it every now and again and like to see the comic panels/covers where some of those iconic images came from. Fun stuff.

The Micronaut Aliens toy package artwork is in a private collection (but available via eBay if you have $250k to spare), minus Antron - which is in Marty Abrams' office.

Hal Shull had some DUKES artwork up until a couple of years ago, but it was badly water-damaged and he threw it away. I believe he still has a couple of his Star Trek related pieces (Trekulator, and the planetarium set, iirc). He also had a couple of airbrushed Micronauts concept pieces, which I have now.

I recall the box art for a Mego police car for sale at MegoMeet the year before last, from DUKES or CB McHAUL.
